November 2024 by Blanka Mccarty
I have collaborated with What to Wear Boutique joyfully and successfully since its opening in early 2022. There was transparency and consistency in clear communication between the consignee and myself as the consigner. The new ownership of What to Wear Boutique is presenting a markedly different picture.
A couple of weeks ago I received a message from the new owner through which I was informed that my contract had expired and that I was given 7 days to pick up my items. I responded in a timely manner and was told by Mr. Plank-Crocker that he needed more time to gather my belongings. We both agreed to meet again a week later. I missed this date and came in the store yesterday to pick up my items. Mr. Plank-Crocker then informed me that he, in the meantime, has closed my account and has donated all items which had been listed on my account. I noticed one of my coats still hanging on a rack behind me and while pointing this out to him, I asked why my coat was still here in the store when it allegedly had been donated. His reply to my question was inconclusive and when I further asked if there were more of my items still remaining on the shelves for sale, I was told that this coat was no longer my property and was asked to leave the store which I refused to do, and in return prompted him to call the police.
It is deceitful to attempt to make a consigner believe her items have been donated when they have not. It is equally wrong to continue to display said items in the store with a price tag attached. In my case the remaining items on my account which was suspended without further notice amounted to close to $500.
After this rather distressing experience with Mr. Plank-Crocker, I find it entirely conceivable that my items are still in his possession and may eventually be sold. Such business practices not only make this store not a consignment store, they are seriously undermining my desire to support local businesses.
I was delighted when the store first opened in 2022 and was looking forward to continue to supply unique and well kept garments and accessories to the store under its new ownership.
I have decided to not turn this affair into a civil law suit and would instead advise existing and future consigners to insist on a written business agreement and to keep track of the items you allow this store to sell for you.

Pretty disappointed to show up to shop and see a sign they are moving. But no way to look them up online - no web, no FB, no accurate listing anywhere...3 stars for hoping it's good?
