“Lovely little bookstore chain in Vermont! We visited the Burlington location and I loved all the staff recommendations and all of the gift options. For me, the big win was the bargain basement! Love getting deals on books!”
“When I was there, it was early on a weekday and there weren't a lot of people. The Starbucks was one of the nicer ones I've seen with a fireplace and a wall of seating... Plus places with easy access for phone charging. They had a surprisingly large manga section. The only place I saw to sit down though was the Starbucks. The Starbucks was out of coconut milk, but they gave me almond milk instead and promised they would remake it if I didn't like it. So that's a point. I also got the spinach and artichoke quiche, which a lot of Barnes and Noble don't seem to have anymore...plus it was cooked all the way through which was nice... So another point. That often doesn't happen at the BN Starbucks.
Atmosphere... Very nice and quiet...it did need the roof repaired in a few places but luckily no books had been damaged. I did see a spider web on one of the book signs, which made me wonder how often people got to that corner. This could be a strike, but honestly, that's all easily fixable and shouldn't be held against the store.
All in all, I liked it and would go back. If I were to make any suggestions to management, it would simply be to add some chairs in for people to sit and look at the books. The longer people linger, the more likely they are to buy a book they are looking at. I'm a perfect example of that. I would have bought a book if my butt hadn't gone numb from sitting on the hard Starbucks chairs or the floor where I parked myself to check out the books I thought looked interesting.”
“It's a cute little book shop right on Church Street (one of my most favorite places) in Burlington VT. They have a collection of used and new books, a children's area and few miscellaneous other items. As I said, it's small so there wasn't necessarily a large selection of books (though it looked they had room for more than they had out). I have a son who is a book collector so I have been in A LOT of bookstores of all shapes in sizes from home in California, multiple states back East and Hawaii. I've been in better and I've been in worse. It's definitely worth going in. Just don't be too disappointed if you don't find anything (though we found 2 books). There was only one staff person and she was friendly when we were checking out but never asked if we needed any assistance when looking for books. If you've read any of my other reviews bookstores, you will see I rank that as an important feature.”
“I have had nothing but amazing experiences here. My wife reads over 100 books a year, and the staff are always excited and helpful in the challenge of finding her something new to read. If you buy more than 5 books a year, the membership is worth it. If I could give them more stars I would”
“There's something special about college tours. We've purchased a lot of UVM gear and haven't even committed yet! Everyone is so happy here ? This store carries everything your student will need.”
“Stopped in for the first time last week and was greatly impressed by the selection of books and other media (i.e. vintage art prints). I was especially thrilled with the free book section out front where I found some old favorites, and my favorite board game from childhood…I had to triple check I couldn’t believe it was free since it was in such great condition! I will definitely be stopping back soon, there was so much to look through so leave yourself plenty of time to visit this shop!”
“Nice gem of a bookstore much like places in Manhattan's Greenwich village. Amazing selection of books with an up to date collection of the current best seller, don't see what you want just ask they'll get it for you.”
