This place is a gem. Well patinaed, but still a gem. Friendly people, skilled mechanics, and my visits have always been a pleasure. Highly recommended for your bike servicing needs or if you're looking for a new bike.

We've used GMB on a few occasions each time has been great. Today I stopped in and they were right there in helping me. It is surprising that little Rochester and it's environs can support them but so glad for it. A very complete ship it is as well. Wish we weren't so far away we'd use them more.

How I wish every local bike shop was as good as this one. The friendly and knowledgeable staff went way out of their way to help me understand the trail network in the area, navigate weather closures, and set me up with an incredible ride, all while juggling unscheduled repair issues for a group of riders who were stuck mid-ride.A bike shop this good in a town this small is a rare gem and one that should be supported by sending all your friends here for all their cycling needs. Be sure to stop if you're in the area.

Hands down the best bike shop I have been to around here and to be honest everywhere. From how down to earth and personal the owner and mechanic are to how much they are willing to help whoever they can being age 5 to age 38 on our help list so far the place is just great. My family loved the shop and the mechanic they got to talk with. He showed them how he was tuning up the used bike we just purchased and let them help. And my experience today got an amazing cruiser bike took that bad boy over the mountain and down the other side. The catch was it was paid forward. The kind gesture of that place I will never forget. I will do business nowhere else.

I am thoroughly pleased with the service and quality of bikes at the Green Mountain bike shop. ALL employees are more than helpful and super friendly. I purchased a mountain bike last summer from Doon which I loved but then found more and more friends talking about E-bikes. I tested one and then went home to think about it. I decided to go for it - Doon indicated he would take my old bike (one yr old) in trade. In addition to giving me a super deal, my bike rack wouldn’t hold the new e-bike. Doon took the time to put together a new bike rack and we swapped out my old for new. Just went above and beyond and I will certainly be back if the need arises….. One feels like they are “home” in this shop…. No questions are “stupid”. Thank you Doon and staff for all your help!!! Awesome is the only word that comes to mind……?

This was my second time visiting. The first was good, got to explore some bicycles I had never seen before. It felt spunky and homegrown. The owner was nice and so was the mechanic. I live much closer to another bike shop, but I had the day to spend with my partner, so we decided to take a drive to check it out again. As soon we walked in the door, I was overwhelmed by the amount of expensive bikes that littered the front room. There was product I wanted to see that seemed like it would take twenty minutes to get to. I understand wanting to keep bikes inside and covered but the place felt very overcrowded. We went into the back room, then outside, where my favorite bikes were. Big chopper bars, tall bikes, swing bikes, the outside is what I like about bikes and unique shops. However upon reentry, an employee pointed us to his personal bike, where he set himself on a pedestal, praising about his bike skills and how critical his role is in the yearly parade. It was uncomfortable. We looked around a bit more, then I asked for some housing for a bike project I’m working on. I’m an aspiring mechanic with a thirst for knowledge and experience. Once I asked for housing, it felt like I had to earn it. I understand wanting to give me the right product, but I felt belittled by the way the employee spoke to me. While he did have suggestions and product spec questions, it was the way he spoke to me that was off putting. He talked as if I had zero knowledge of working on bicycles. It was the same employee who just decided to spotlight himself to us.I left empty handed and sad. I hoped to at least leave with a useful souvenir, but the shop clothing was buried and they had no decent water bottles. I promise myself that I won’t be belittled by another bike shop employee like this one. I won’t go back.

Hands down the best bike shop experience I have had in Vermont, and perhaps anywhere. The shop is an ode to the love of the bicycle. Midway through a 200 mile Vermont ride we blew a rear derailleur. What should have sideline the rider on any other trip turned into an opportunity to see a master mechanic at work AND to connect with kindred souls in the love of the joke. The bike shop itself is a love poem to bicycles. Housed in an original historic building on Main Street in Rochester, VT, the shop itself it populated by the most amazing selection of riding machines. From the “electric room” up front which contains a wide selection of eBikes (commuters, hard tails, plush ride FS, and even a fatty rig) to the “acoustic section” in the back with road, MTB and hybrid rides from some of the best quality names in the world of cycling, of this shop doesn’t have what you are looking for then I will eat my cycling helmet. Add to that the most wonderful human to human connection provided by the owner, Dune (who also happens to be the town’s selectman), and his friend and business partner, Dylan, where sharing is caring and the two just want folks to have the best experience ever in their store and endeavor to ensure one’s stopping in was the most worthwhile of experiences and your have a formul for a must-do stop along Rte 100 for anyone who has ever lingered in a bike store just to speak “bicycle” among similarly crazed enthusiasts. No only did we get our most difficult repair fixed lickety split, we also got a tour of the shop with is myriad of machines and rolling art installations. Yes, this is not only a bicycle shopping and repai venture, but also a node of an artists’ colony of sorts for the mechanically inclined. Welded creations that have lept from the imagination of the shop crew (old hard tail bombers, 26” rigs with monkey bar up front — and discussion of a banana seat and sissy bars on the back that unfortunately did not make it into the build, a geometry-coerced tall bike that sits proudly in the front of the store, to a swing action bike where both wheels are able to pivot under the rider’s control) sit among the sleek new carbon and titanium craft production builds. The drawbridge workshop doorway with its control mechanism to raise/lower the door is made entirely out of an ingenious composition of old bicycle cranks, gears, and chains expertly utilizing the power of pulley force mechanics to provide for an easy hand-cracking raising and lowering of the drawbridge door is a sight to behold. What otherwise nigh have been misinterpreted as a fever dream of bicycle passion, the expert handcrafting of this store, from the merchandise for purchase (I have never seen a larger collection of stems as I saw arrange along the high workshop wall) to the handcrafted genius mechanical art, to the in-depth knowledge base which the shop staff passionately shares with those who ask questions and want to learn more, I would not hesitate to make a trip back to the store just to hang out for an hour and talk bikes with Dune and Dylan. Super amazing experience. And in the end, what would have been a trip ending mechanical was fixed with a smile and with a bill that embarrassed me in in humbleness. Wonderful place that should be enshrined as a heritage site for Vermont. Love this place. Cheers. (If you are lucky, your timing might coincide with activity around the pizza oven out back of the store in a covered and gorgeous sitting area, or you will have the spare hour to longer and test ride some of the newest eBike tech to zip up to the Rochester town square and back with a silly grin on your face an a whooping of your happy shouts left to float away in the contrail of your passage. Do not forget to ask for information about the local MTB trails or the bikes for hire option when you are staying in the area.) Amazing place. [Photo taken some miles down the road after reuniting the whole pack, post-repair, and continuing our 200 mile ride south that would not have otherwise been possible without assistance from Green Mountain Bikes.]

What a great spot. Rented a mtn bike from them, then rode world class singletrack right out the back door. Can't wait to go back.
