The place has been remodeled and changed owners several times, but its charm remains. We stayed in the Sugar Maple room, which is the largest room and faces the front, with a spectacular view of the town green. The staff were great and appreciated our stories of the "old days." They serve a nice continental breakfast but don't currently have their own restaurant. That's unfortunate because in the past their restaurant was world class, but there are some good restaurants in nearby Brattleboro. Highly recommended for a getaway to a classic VT town, especially in leaf peeping season.”

111 Staver Rd, Marlboro“Victoria and her team have created a charming, high-touch guest experience at this historic property, serenely situated near a pond amid southern Vermont's verdant, rolling expanses. Surrounded by natural splendor, guests can immerse themselves in the enchanting ambiance of falling foliage while savoring fresh juice and homemade breakfast. An ancient tree, its crimson leaves ablaze, stands proudly outside the dining room window—a stunning sight sure to stop you in your tracks. Victoria’s warm hospitality shines through; she graciously prepared a quick breakfast for us, even with our late start!”

100 Chickering Dr, Brattleboro“Absolutely the best hotel in the area...The staff is so attentive and friendly. They make you feel like family. They provide a very nice full breakfast every morning to start the day...They have freshly made cookies and donuts and coffee all times of the day...The rooms are modern with blackened shades. Nice and quiet hotel with a gas fire pit for evening gatherings for relaxation..They have an indoor pool...We have stayed at many different hotels and this is by far the BEST!!!! We are definitely visiting again every time we return to the area..Highly recommend You won't be disappointed ?”
“Front desk didn’t have quarters for the washer/dryer. There was 1 washer and 1 dryer for the whole hotel. Washer didn’t spin water out of clothes well and dryer didn’t heat up even in high heat setting.
Noteworthy details: Nothing”

Rooms: Most have original fixtures in bath and original dressers in room, very cool!
Nearby activities: Convenient to everything in downtown Brattleboro, food co-op, restaurants, stone church music venue and much more
Noteworthy details: Very cool historic art deco building that smells like delicious popcorn from attached theatre!”

57 Putney Landing Rd, Putney“Grateful the putney inn had vacancy as I was driving home with my kids. The room was spotless. The man working the front desk was kind and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was perfect and there looked to be a play area in the back. We didn't get to explore it but looked like a great option for other families.”
“For a 2 star hotel this place is spot on. It's clean, organized and dated. If you need a place to crash, or an experience with the kids this is a great spot. Suited my needs exactly, plus the staff was super helpful and friendly.”

889 Putney Rd, Brattleboro“This property is an older property and has 2 types of rooms. I booked with super.com. When I checked in, the gentleman was very friendly, gave us the key and we went to the room. Now, I did not expect this. It smelled like pee and I would not have stayed in that room even if it didn't. I did not feel safe. I went back and told the gentleman the issues. He explained that I booked the cheaper room and they have better ones. He gave me a key and a great room for only $20.00 more. It was big, warm, very clean, and included breakfast. If you decide to stay there, just make sure to book the correct room. ?”
“I traveled here for the eclipse and for the most part very much enjoyed my stay in this very clean and pleasantly laid out hotel and especially the lovely area itself! Vermont is fantastic!
Traveling from out of state one of the things to keep in mind is that cell phone service is very spotty if non-existent here for some providers. I was able to overcome this by using the Wifi calling feature on my phone (the hotel Wifi is very fast). I cannot fault the owners or hotel staff for this... it is what it is.
My only complaint is the noise or potential thereof. The walls and floor is thin, even on the top floor. For the most part all was great but I wonder if it was due to coincidence. One jarring moment was on the night before the eclipse where it sounded like a party was taking place either below or to the side of the room. The mumbling sounds and bassy noise coming from the walls was clearly audible not just for myself but for my companion. I was on the verge of making this known but fortunately between around 11 and 12 midnight the noise died down. Given that this probably cannot be corrected by any engineering or noise dampening system, when signing into the hotel if they would just have made it a requirement from guests to hold no parties or to be respectful of other guests after a certain hour, say 11 PM, this hotel would be PERFECT. I don't know whether it was just rare bad luck or not, but that is my only recommendation and what keeps this review from being 5 star. Thanks for reading.”
