First time trail riding here, we had an awesome time! I sent a message the night before not knowing if they would be able to fit us in the next day with such short notice, but she responded right away and booked us in the very next morning! It was a bit chilly, but that was our own fault for not layering up. The staff knew the horses very well, and the ride itself was pretty neat because it was on and off the trail due to the mud, so that made it kinda fun, we thought. We definitely plan to return for more trail rides here.

If I could give this place 4.5 stars, I would. But since I can't, I'll give them 5 instead. My family was vacationing at The Tyler Place about 50 min north of here. Unfortunately, TTP does not have a robust horse program (they have a few ponies). So we came here. My horse-loving daughter chose it based upon the pictures of their well-kept horses. When we first got there, it looked a bit run down. However, our first clue that all would be well was Bellhop, their cat. The cat did not even bother to look at us when we approached indicating a well cared for cat with no dangers about. In fact, all the animals were extremely friendly from the dog, to the goats, to of course the horses. We had 3 levels of riders. My 12-yr old daughter who has had around 8 lessons and several more trail rides. My 9-yr old daughter who has had only a few pony lead-line rides. And me, 44, who has done about 5 trail rides in my lifetime. Sara found us the right mounts and took us on a full 1-hour ride through their beautiful 100+ acre farm which includes woods too (budget more than an hour as you will need time to tack up). By the end, even my 9-yr old was trotting (not just walking) in the open field! Sara and the farm have a rich history, so don't be afraid to ask. I STRONGLY recommend Breakaway Farms. The price was very reasonable (I won't post here as they have the right to change). Also, they provided us all with boots and helmets at no additional charge. So just call and schedule a ride!

We had a wonderful trail ride! It was super easy to call and book a time to come by. They had so many different sizes of boots, including wide sizes, laced, and kid sizes. They had clean helmets, and were amazing at teaching new riders the ropes. We went on a ride for about 45 minutes, and the horses were very calm and patient with us. They were very knowledgeable on the area, the horses, and different riding styles. We had an amazing time and I highly recommend booking a trail ride, any time of the year!

Took my kids on a trail ride this evening and the riding part was fine. The rest left a lot to be desired. First off, the barn and the horse stalls were filthy, caked with urine and feces. The horses all seemed thin, and one little one was downright skeletal. After the ride ended as we walked through the barn we saw a young farm hand manhandling a little sheep into the pasture by it's neck. The sheep was struggling to breathe and another sheep was crying as well. The farmhand, maybe 16 years old, screamed at it to "Shut up!". My daughter was scared and my son pointed out that it wasn't nice to talk to anyone that way, including animals. My children aren't even allowed to say "Shut up" so we were all horrified. A guy saw this and tried to apologize, but the farm hand picked up a goat, walked by us and said rudely "These are my goats and my sheep and I treat them however I want." We couldn't get out of their fast enough...and we won't be back!!!

Breakaway Farms is a lovely locally owned and operated full-service stable. They offer trail rides, pony rides and riding lessons as well as boarding options. There's an adorable little farm stand with the freshest eggs you can get and fresh veggies from their garden. The prices for trail rides are extremely reasonable. A great way to share quality time with family and friends!

My husband and I just came back from an amazing trail ride. Breakaway did an awesome job from matching our ability to the right horse and a beautiful tour. Our friendly fun guide Sarah, was fantastic too. I highly recommend. I know if my husband and I are back in the area, we will definitely do it again.
