I want to start by saying they have a clean bathroom that is always an option if you're traveling along 91 in the northeast kingdom and rest areas are closed. I have been enjoying sandwiches from this deli for a very long time. My go-to is their seafood salad, and they run out of it quickly so others must also love it. They also have fried chicken and potato wedges warm and ready for take out. This is also a decent sized grocery store that's open relatively late.”

Lyme Rd, Thetford“I just learned that the heirloom tomatoes that I had been purchasing every week from FreshDirect (serving Long Island, NY) were sourced from here. I don’t know how they were available from February to late April (greenhouses, I expect, but they must be huge!); FD has not had them since, and I have written, tweeted, contacted them in every way possible. Outside they are seasonal—but then why were they available in winter? Wouldn’t greenhouse growing work in spring and early summer? Anyway, they are the absolute best bar none. Every delivery (and I ordered at least 5 or 6 every week, usually more—I would eat them at every meal every day if I could get them) would arrive, plastering a huge grin on my face. Dark red-purple beauties ranging in size from medium to gigantic, all perfect, all so flavorful beyond what words can describe. I wish I could show you; better yet, I wish all of you could bite into one right this moment.”

A ton of fresh veggies come with their service which is really fun to design weekly meals off vegetables I may otherwise not buy out right. CSA from here has improved variety and quality of homemade meals. The pick you own is wonderful. Basically fresh herbs weekly, as many cherry red tomatoes as you can eat and my most favorite time of year--fresh edamame! An attached market for other local selections of bread and local meats.”
“We spotted this place on our way north to see the eclipse and I ordered the breakfast sandwich with crisp bacon and cheddar cheese. It was wonderful and when I asked the cook what he did to make it so good he smiled and said “I just cooked it.” My partner had a traditional scrambled egg and home fries and said it was very good. The home fries were real pieces of potatoes, cut up right the. Other offerings in the salad case looked great, too. Quirky atmosphere in the seating area. You might feel you had stepped back into the 50s. While we were there a group of locals broke out into song when the only male at their table and the trio harmonized an unplanned “Leaving on the next train” in laughter and made up words and repeated verses. What fun!
Wheelchair accessibility: There was a rather steep, but short ramp into the dining area.”

“Wings Thetford VT is the classic north country store. Folks from down there in CT or Ling Island probably never see this kind of place. Features a FINE butcher shop and friendly Vermonters. And dont miss the Mega-Wings in Fairlee, By God...Vermont. Posto”

“Stopped here leaving VT from the eclipse, after an annoying day filled with stand still traffic. Steve was beyond nice and chatted with us about the area, and our trip. Highly recommend just because of Steve!”
