I love City Hardware! The staff are so personal and helpful and really take time to assist with finding the right tools for project needs. We have been waiting for so long to have a downtown hardware store that’s local and walkable. Thank you for being part of our community.

The assistant manager was astonishingly rude to me! I brought in three items I needed to fix in my house. Little stuff, a couple of screws for a bed, some doorknob set screws and some brackets for my storm door.Put simply, he didn’t have what I needed (fine) and told me what he had (also fine). When I asked questions about the specs on the screws he had vs what I needed, he was just nasty and unhelpful. I was simply trying to understand the difference between the metric screws I had and the “quarter 20s” he had! He acted like I was a pain in the neck and he didn’t have time to bother with my little stuff that would have generated only $10 of revenue (store was virtually empty). I want to use local businesses, not the big home store retailers. I have plenty of reasons to go to a local hardware store, say 2 times a month. But this store will NEVER get my business, large or small. At least the dolts at Lowe’s and The Home Depot are willing to answer simple questions with patience rather than pique. No wonder small hardware stores are disappearing! This one could not disappear soon enough.

My father and I walked over to City Hardware, looking for something to temporarily fix the wheel on my elderly grandmother’s walker. There was an older gentleman behind the counter (I didn’t get his name) who not only showed us around all of the possibly relevant aisles, but he also went above and beyond to brainstorm with my father to find a more “creative” fix to the wheel when we realized the parts we needed weren’t in stock. Being Rhode Islanders in town to visit family, we were both blown away by the hospitality and creativity of this kind older gentleman. Wonderful experience!

Excellent downtown hardware store—this store is well organized and well stocked. Also, the employees are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I can’t image a better small hardware store and greatly appreciate that it exists and serves the people of downtown Burlington.

This store is the best thing that has happened to downtown in years! It's a whole lot larger on the inside than you might expect from the storefront; this is the real deal. In addition to the regular home and garden stuff I get at hardware stores, I often have a bunch of odd questions about materials and tools that I need for art projects. Leigh and his crew at this awesome store give careful, respectful consideration to even my most vague ideas of what I'm trying to accomplish. Fantastic service. Fantastic store

It would be nice if they would stock more metric fasteners. Especially hex socket head, and hex cap head in m3,m4,m5, and m6. I don't think Hillman covers this very well because I have seen a lack of these at other ACE stores. I was able to make due with some phillips head metric bolts but these are kind of obsolete these days and are not ideal. Most things manufactured in the last 20 years use all metric hardware, especially hex head or even torque. These examples should be standard part of a hardware lineup if hardware stores are going to stay relevant into the future and compete with box stores, amazon, mcmaster, etc... Its nice to have local stores to be able to go find hardware when you need it instead of having to order.

Before you go walking into Lowe’s or Home Depot, call Walt and the crew at City Hardware. Their knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to go the extra mile is second to none. Not to mention supporting a locally owned and operated business first!

Have everything that I have needed on mulitple visits. The other essential thing for a hardware store is having helpful customer service and I appreciate their customer service very much!!!!

Normally I enjoy city hardware very much b/c even though they don't have a lot of items in stock, the employees were always very helpful and kind UNTIL TODAY. Seconds after walking into the store and letting them know I didn't need any assistance the youngest of the associates came out from behind the register and FOLLOWED ME AROUND THE STORE. After about 10 minutes he brought another one of the older associates to check me out! It was subtle nor was it professional. I felt like I was doing something wrong And I was uncomfortable and uneasy the entire time.this is the last trip il ever make to city hardware.walmart is much cheaper anyway
