“I wanted to give a shout out to Ryan snd the loan folks in general. But Ryan first: I was recently comparing auto loans at two credit unions, and in terms of customer service she so badly beat them I had to give her a shout out. I am editing this: the first time I wrote it I got in the weeds of details and loses the point. Im afraid this is only incrementally better… but hope you’ll bear with me.Ryan, when the other credit union couldn’t be bothered to in the middle of the day to discuss a auto loan, I was a bit disappointed. Unfortunately, it made me show up at 802, so close to closing, the receptionists look confirmed how big an ask it was. But almost immediately Ryan came out and was charming — listening and asking questions. to encourage a full telling, despite the time- and more than once told me not to worry about the time. Not only did she make time, she immediately understood a complex sequence of factors that could make the loan go either way. Nevertheless…. She, in minutes said “Well, that’s easy! Saying why, she approved me in minutes. So Charming , efficient, people oriented and solution oriented, she did it all. The other place complained three days later since I filled out the application on line, I should have stayed there instead of keeping the appointment we had made. Then this manager sent it BACK to be re assessed by underwriting, after it had been approved. And in general the message was we are doing you a big favor you have the honor of paying us for…if we can’t find a way to not help Sheesh, after Ryan she was just shy of a spanking. This continued and when the deals were close, I realized the other would give 72 months term to keep payments low, and thought Ryan just offered one term not knowing I needed the longer one. She sadly said she couldn’t offer the longer term due to the fact the loan amount not the value of car only wish 802 would have empowered her to meet the other cu’s offer given Ive been a member for eight years, have excellent credit, and not do so pushes me into a firmer relationship with the new credit union backup for when problems at 802 made a back up necessary. My Credit Card loan officer I worked with was also beyond good- even when snags were hit. Both unbelievably helpful, and accommodating as RVCU always was without fail. 802 Id suggest needs to EMPOWER people like these folks to make minor adjustments to keep a member from going elsewhere.Instead they denied an easy concession that would be justified just by my history, and failed to notice now have a relationship with another credit union and push me to start a loan with them rather than push me to increase my relationship with another CU. When Ryan explained the technicality to me why she couldn’t match the term length she was clearly was sad- it was so close to the letter and definitely the spirit of the reason was still met- but as surely as if 802 was a corporate bank, her hands were clearly tied. I want her to know (as well as powers that be at 802) I would have even paid a bit more interest to be someplace I felt like had my back, and I could talk with if problems arose. My dad had a great relationship with the president of the bank,so strong he had the ability to write a check for 100k machine at auction without a heads up to the bank, and sign the note days later with no concern. In fifteen minutes, Ryan’s understanding of the reasoning of my unconventional loan request and willingness to approve it immediately, reminded me of the banker Dad had. She inspires loyalty and a sense you belong- a Credit Union’s secret weapon against the “big boys” at corporate banks. She’s a rare natural at her job- she couldn’t have been better, and given the circumstances really should have been empowered to match terms for a member like me, rather than push them into a competition’s credit union. Sad, but in no way, and at no time was she not superior to all but one banker Ive ever known. Give her a raise and trust her to make judgement calls. Empowering makes a business thrive”
