Every time I’ve been to ORAH, no matter which vet or tech I’m seeing that day, they have consistently provided a compassionate, humane, and trustworthy experience through fear-free handling and ethics. I cannot emphasize enough how much of a difference it’s been going to this clinic.
My dog has consistently been terrified at vet visits, so much that she’ll shake and shut down completely. However with the support and flexibility that ORAH has provided, she’s been accepting of cuddles and treats and has made markedly visible progress even after just a few months.
If your dog gets nervous at the vet, they provide a ton of support and make a huge effort to make the experience positive for your dog. Even small details are so meaningful and show the care and thoughtfulness of the staff. Instead of labeling your dog as “fearful” when making a treatment plan, the language they use reflects the goals for the visit. They refer to them as a “fear-free dog” instead — as in, we will use fear-free protocols to make this experience as positive as possible.
And on the human side of things, I’ve never felt rushed or pressured into treatment, everyone’s been up-front about our options and it’s clear they want what’s best for my dog. I’ve found the pricing to be comparable to other vet clinics in the area—but at ORAH, they’ll spend twice as much time if your dog needs it, so the value for the appointment is incredibly high. They offer an online pharmacy that can ship to your house, which is very nice.
Overall, it’s clear that the staff here put a TON of effort into making your pet as comfortable as possible, and their work improves the lives and welfare of so many animals. Special shoutout to Dr. Bradley and Lisa for making Senga feel more comfortable than she’s ever been at the vet, right from our first appointment. Thank you for everything you do!

I’ve never written a review before because even with bad experiences at places I’m not one to complain because everyone is human BUT in this case this is regarding my cat that I care very much about and id an ESA. First and foremost I want to say everyone here was very kind and explained things well the first time we were in, we had agreed on getting blood, getting NO vaccines done (the vet even said she checked no in the chart) , and having my cats glands drained.
They had tried to do the blood and glands that day but my cat wasn’t having it so they sent me home with medication to help with her anxiety and told me to re schedule.
I did for today 9/24, we got there and I told them I had a hard time giving her the medication and that it was only 40 minutes ago, they said they’d like to put her in another room to have her calm down so I agreed and they had me wait in the waiting room. This whole time I was thinking that they were going to come out and get me when the medication had kicked in more 40 minutes had passed and I was going to ask about when I could go in and then the vet came out holding my cat and said that the medication worked and that they took blood, gave her a rabies vaccine, and drained her glands.
I specifically before said I didn’t want any vaccinations for my cat, and I would have greatly appreciated if they had told me what they were doing or asked me/ confirmed what they were doing, but they just took her into another room for her to calm down then came back 40 minutes later with everything done… It genuinely didn’t sit right with me but I didn’t know what to do or say really because I have anxiety of my own. I did mention that she wasn’t supposed to be vaccinated and the vet said it was the law and that she felt bad but that it still needed to be done. So I just payed $300 dollars and left.

Absolutely fantastic. Kind, sincere, and caring staff.
I was worried my three month old lab swallowed a stone slightly smaller than a golf ball so they saw my pup on short notice - approximately 18:45 on a Friday, less than ideal. After an x-ray and exam, my pup was deemed okay and my fears were alleviated.
Wonderful vet & staff. I wish they were my pups regular medical care center but alas we reside in PA!
And the hydrangeas out front are on point??

They have cared for our pets on an emergency basis while on vacation. It’s incredible being able to access such kind and thorough care away from home

I had a great experience here as a first-time visitor with my sick cat. Dr. Carl was very thorough and sweet with my kitty! Tech Jameson was so kind as well and shared detailed knowledge about my cat’s situation.
It was so reassuring to get fast, quality care for my pet so close to home. I’m so grateful for Onion River!
It is a very clean and nice facility. We will be regular clients for sure!

I’ve been taking my Cairn terrier to ORAH for 9 years. They were able to perform emergency surgery on him in-house the same day I brought him in (no need to transport my sick boy all the way up to BEVS) and continued to check in on his recovery after I brought him home. All the staff treat the animals and their owners with compassion and expertise, always present me with all treatment options and are respectful of my choices. I’m so grateful to ORAH for saving Winston’s life and making him a happier, healthier dog.

I’ve heard they might be a bit more expensive than other vets (not sure) but man, they have done an excellent job of staffing this place with animal lovers. Every experience we’ve had at ORAH has been great. Good quality care, and staff who are always kind and compassionate with our pets. As long as In live in this area, I expect my animals will be going here for care.

My wife and I are retired and full time RVers traveling across the US and Canada. On the way to Nova Scotia, our cat Cheeto, developed an eye infection and was in obvious pain (and not eating or drinking). We knew our next stop was in Berlin VT and called Onion River Animal Hospital asking for an immediate appointment when we were due to arrive. Despite having no appointments available they told us to come in.
The story has a happy ending thanks to Dr. Kristi and Izzy who spent the time to assess his situation and prescribe a treatment that would work...all with a compassionate/pragmatic approach.
24 hours later, Cheeto is eating and drinking again and while he still has a bit of a "pirate eye" he obviously doing much better.
We appreciate the admittance staff getting us in and Dr. Kristi / Izzy for getting Cheeto back on the road for our "Big Adventure". Next stop....Canada.
Thanks again....Michel and Sharon

My cat was seen this weekend for an emergency vet trip. The receptionists helped me get set up with Care Credit and were very kind. The vet spent lots of time with me going over tests, pricing, and options in a very nice helpful manner. I highly recommend them. Great office.

My cat, Mia, was having seizures and was unable to use her back legs, and couldn't eat. I brought her to ORAH on a Saturday and they quickly did everything they could. Unfortunately this story didn't have a happy ending, but the staff here were empathetic, and handled the process and my grief with great care.Top notch service and care, even without an appointment. Thank you to the entire staff.
