I love this place. It's family operated & has been in Barre for at least 70 years. They do all the work themselves, quality workmanship at a reasonable price.

Had about 6 pairs of shoes that needed repair - One pair of Birkenstocks and 5 pairs of heels. As I work in Waterbury and my daughter works in Barre, I asked my daughter to bring the shoes to Barre. Mostly they needed new heel caps or other small repairs like having a buckle re-stitched or a new internal cover piece applied/glued in. The most extensive repair was having new cork applied to some heels and those heel caps replaced.
Now, I take EXCELLENT care of my shoes. I have a large and very expensive shoe collection. I have worked with cobblers for YEARS to keep my heels in great condition. I have had cobblers who have stripped off the sole and replaced them because the shoes were my favorites and were 23 years old. My daughter was told that the shoes were all too old and that I should wear them to their death. She was told they could do one set of heel caps and sewing down the strap of the birkenstocks. One pair of Fluevogs was *literally* resewing the buckle onto new elastic. Apparently too hard.
I've been super disappointed in Vermont's lack of cobblers. The place I'd lived before had not one, but TWO excellent cobblers. I am deeply familiar with the work of cobblers and what is possible/impossible. I had super high hopes for this business but apparently not. Oh, my daughter reports that the woman was "not very nice"

I love this shop. They are a treasure. The family is very kind, offers polite service, and has a great turn around time for repairs.

Friendly, welcoming people, excellent service, quality work. I brought in a pair of shoes to be re-heeled and was initially told it would take a couple of weeks because they were so busy. I was delighted and surprised to receive a text two days later telling me my shoes were ready! They did an excellent job for a fair price. I'll be back. An by Yelp is that I am from Burlington, VT not California!

Graciously helped me out when I stopped in with a sole flapping loose on my left boot. I inquired about buying a new pair, but unfortunately I have unusually large feet and they didn’t have a pair in stock that would fit me - and since I’m from out of state and passing through on vacation, there wasn’t time to wait to order a new pair. The owner instead gave me the advice and everything I needed to repair the boot. Very helpful and kind - they saved my vacation! Real cobblers are a vanishing breed and I am glad this family-owned business is still going strong.

What a truly stellar expedient experience here!! I had a pair of black 3 inch high heels that I just adore super comfortable and the strap came off of the base of the heal. I’m leaving in one week and I took them in to see if they could by any slim chance turn it around and have it ready before we left… low and behold, the amazing warm and pleasant woman at the counter named Anna offered to fix it right away, and I left 20 minutes later with the strap reattached!! Barre as well as Montpelier as well as other cities in Vermont were swamped beyond flooded in July, we need to do whatever we can to support small mom and Pop businesses!!! A+++ Stellar service!!

I have been doing business here for 30+ years. This is a family run business going on the 3rd generation. They have always been helpful & honest. They will repair anything they can for a fair price. Thier products are limited. However, this is because these are what they are willing to stand behind as quality products that will last the customer. They can order anything you want (in their lines they carry) If they don't have it. They are a great business and if you need your footwear repaired they are true Cobblers and will get the job done. Plus they will do repairs on other leather goods.Look, I was just there after the flood of 2023. They could use the business. If you want to help flood victims buy from them, use their services. I want these folks to go to the fourth generation. They are worth it. They aren't asking for handouts, just your business and they are willing to prove they can earn it. For over 30 years they have proved it to me and my family!

DON'T PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS.I brought a shoe in for repair that my dog had chewed. Karl took a look and he said no problem, he would fix it in a few days. 10 days went by and after 3 calls to see if the shoe was ready (the three different people who answered the phone said could not find it), called again. Again they said they still could not find the shoe. I said 'This is the fourth time I've called. ' The woman who answered said 'we don't repair dog chews.' Then I asked to speak to the owner, Karl, who had looked at the shoe while I was standing there 10 days previously and promised to have it done in a few days. I said, 'this is the fourth time I've called' I was not shouting or anything, and I never mistreat people who do services for me, but I must have sounded frustrated. Karl replied, 'I don't care if you've called 100 times.' I was pretty taken aback. Then he said, 'I don't need this' and hung up on me. DO NOT USE THIS STORE.

Had a pair of Dr. Martens stretched in the instep. They did an awesome job! I can finally wear my boots and get my feet in. Incredible job and if they need to be stretched more, it is a one time fee, forever!! Great work, very accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend.

I live in Chittenden County and the cobbler who did work in this area has gone out of business. There were, as with any business, complaints re: long wait times, and work not done as expected, and that he was grumpy, not mean, just grumpy. I have no idea as to why he shut his doors, but perhaps his dealing with customers was a part of it.So one day soon, I will be heading to Barre to get my boots repaired. Given that Spring is around the corner, I‘m hopeful that they will be completed by the time winter approaches at the end of this year. Maybe this is how we need to adjust our expectation in a skilled craft that more and more is unavailable. As far as grumpy goes, I can deal with that and be pleasant in return.I also need to remind myself that when I read any review I’m only getting one side of the story and that some people have expectations that are just unreasonable they prefer to vent their complaints on social media rather than have a person to person conversation with the shop keeper in an attempt to reach a resolution.

Pros: They did an amazing job replacing the broken, flimsy plastic zippers on my NEX boots with beefy metal zippers. I'll get many more years out of these boots. Thank you for the quality work.3 stars because it took 6 months for these boots to be repaired. I called to check in once a month. At first I was told the zippers were on back order, and then after the 3 month mark, every time I called I was told "we are doing them next week". It wasn't until I called to ask for the boots and my money back that they replaced the zippers within a few days. When I picked them up they said this was the last zipper repair they would ever do. They were never rude.Advice to future customers: Go for the quality but be sure to check in proactively if you haven't heard back for a while and don't expect a fast turn around.

They have had my Birkenstock sandals since 10/13/22 . When I left them the lady at counter said it would be a bit but this is just ridiculous. No one picks up the phone. Have not herd anything from them letting me know my Sandler are done. Not impressed with them at all. Would not recommend them.
