I am not one to write negative reviews but I am hoping that this will save someone from wasting their time and money from ever investing in this company and having to work with them. In all of my life this is HANDS DOWN the worst customer service I have ever had the experience of working with. We purchased a 4500i generator (top of the line-very nice generator) from cummins and it hasn't worked since day one. Before we even dropped it off they told us on the phone "you might just want to buy a new generator depending on how much it's going to cost you to fix it". Our generator is a year old!!! We've had it in the shop twice, only for them to send it back to us laughing us out of the store to tell us it's fine and working and that we just needed to charge the generator. FINALLY had to pull the thing apart ourselves and have a mechanic in the family look at it to find we had a faulty battery and replace it ourselves to fix the problem. I've called multiple times to explain to them that we've brought it in for the to fix it, only for them to send us away with a generator still not working and not one time have they every apologized or acted like they cared. Their team does not ever follow up, reach out, touch base, nothing. I have to constantly track people down to find out whats going on when they have our generator in the shop. Half of the time, they have their phone off the hook. It takes WEEKS to get an appointment. When we bought this generator BRAND NEW and took it out of the box it wasn't working so we asked to return and exchange for a new one and they refused, said we would have to wait 2 months for our appointment to bring it in to be looked at and serviced. Their warranty is garbage. I regret ever investing in this product. Save your time, your money. This company does not care about you. Get a generator from Costco for half of the price and know that if something goes wrong, you can always return/exchange it because I PROMISE cummins will never take care of you.

Called ahead for an 11a “Appointment” for my Cummins Diesel Generator in my Class C RV. Job took over 3hours and cost $311.03. $247.68 for labor on a 20-30min job. You literally unscrew the oil plug and drain 0.7quarts, replug and fill. $42 for a quart of oil which costs $12-14 at an auto store.
Upon asking why it took 3hours when I had an appointment, advisor told me the tech was in a meeting at 12; in which she made sure to know that she was there for?♂️. When asked why are you booking “appointments” on top of meetings I wasn’t told anything. When I asked about the cost of labor and parts/ oil, I was told the parts were for 3.2qt of oil, and the cost is a flat rate across the company. At that time another advisor spoke up and asked if I was quoted the cost before booking. I wasn’t. After speaking with the manager and checking the oil level myself, it was determined that the one advisor isnt very knowledgeable of services provided; and has an attitude when asked questions. She slammed the door to the managers office right behind me and I could hear her bitching when I requested to speak with him. After confirming the oil wasn’t overfilled; the tech came forward and said only 1qt used, I was left disappointed in the entire process.
If you’re reading this do yourself a favor and change the oil yourself. Look it up on YouTube. It takes about 10-20min and costs $14.
I’m dumbfounded in my experience because there is a poster displayed in the office which focuses on customer satisfaction. I can’t remember the 3-4 statements, but I remember them being along the lines of communication and timeliness. None of which I received. Either retrain your employees or redecorate?

Robert is awesome! His customer service and common sense is on point. Friendly, professional, efficient, and knowledgeable. Cummins has a great employee in "will call". Thank you Robert from all of us at Charlie's Service.

Service personnel were very unfriendly and the generator that I brought in for repairs that was only a year old the throttle linkage vibrated apart the service people had a poor excuse for why it happened.

I called to set an appointment and the scheduler was very organized and explained the warranty process and drop off process. It was about 2 weeks and we dropped off the machine. The service writer was very friendly and got us in and we dropped off the trailer. Trailer generator was serviced for a no power output issue and they had it done in 3 days. Check out process was easy.

Meh! RV Generator Service. Just wanted to share an experience - might help someone else. Have an Onan Microlite 2800 generator on an RV ( camper van). Starting to run rough and was hard to start. Decided to change oil, spark plug, air filter, and fuel filter. Not that hard to do, but the access is challenging. So I decided to take it to the Onan dealer - Cummins. ( Salt Lake City)They quoted me - not to exceed-. $350. Took 6 weeks to get an appointment. Again, a bit expensive for simple maintenance, but they have a drive over pit.Got there and they told me it would be $550. When I protested they said they got rid of their "flat rate pricing." When, I asked. " Last week." The tech was out sick so they had an apprentice do the job they estimated at 2.5 hrs. ( I doubt it took that long.) No discount for the unsupervised apprentice. And they charged me for 2 quarts of oil (it took one.)Got it home and put it in storage for the winter. I checked on it a few weeks later and noticed oil dripping from the drain plug. Tried to tighten it and it wouldn't tighten. They must have stripped it or over tightened it. I called them and they said they would look at it under warranty (90 days). Taking it out of storage until Spring was super challenging, but they were inflexible. But this how they got 2 stars: In the Spring I talked to the Service manager (Travis). He took responsibility for the leak and changed out the oil pan. Now all is good. But, I'll go elsewhere next time.

Update to my Review of Cummins Generator Service. Got the Camper RV home and put it in storage for the winter. I checked on it a few weeks later and noticed oil leaking from the oil drain plug (they changed the oil.) Tried to tighten the drain plug and it wouldn't tighten. They either stripped or over tightened the plug. They told me to bring it back on warranty (90 days). It was kind of impossible to pull it out of storage at that point until spring. They were not going to be flexible on this. To add to this they charged me for 2 quarts of oil. Only takes one.

This is the last place on earth I would take my generator to they have no clue what they are doing and they won't call you back and even hang up on you because you are upset and tell you they will talk to you when you calm down!

Don't buy anything Generator from them. As soon as your Generator breaks down they want to charge you the same price as you originally bought the Generator for. Horrible customer service. Will not never buy anything cummins ever again. I haven't even but 100 hours on my cummins generator yet and it broke down on me twice. When I asked them they said ("that's not our brand we just put our logo on it so it can sale")Go buy Honda or any other brand and save your self the money and the headache that comes with Cummins.
