I have been getting my locs retwisted by Esther for over 2 years! I have very small locs but Esther is really quick and so skilled! Highly recommend for anyone with locs. She’s also retwisted my daughter who is 5years old - Esther is so delicate and paitent with kids.Specialties: Esther is absulotely amazing!

I've seen several stylists over the years at this place one no longer works there thank god but Esther is incredibly unprofessional & will openly make disparaging comments about your skin tone thinking it's funny which is far from professional. I got my hair combed out because I was leaving the country for a year & she didn't say hi once like bubbly self & seemed very offended. I just canceled on her because she wasn't paying any attention to what I was looking to get done. She put it as a simple retwist/root maintenance when I stated multiple times it was brand new barrel twists along with adding hair. I'm sure that takes more than 10 minutes & costs more than 20$. Another petty comment was I recently got my birth name back yet she refuses to address me by it because it's an inconvenience to her. Sounds real entitled. Sorry it's not old timey Amish like Esther that makes everyone feel safe & comfortable. verpiss dich Verdammte Zicke.Stylist: Esther unprofessional & apparently if you aren't as dark as her she will mock you for it. Real classy. Don't bother having a non super white name because she won't bother to even try to learn it because it an inconvenience to her. She plays the nice part but really she's a snob.

This my first time ever coming to Baraka Beauty & Esther did an amazing job with my hair. If you want your hair braided I recommend you guys to come check out this place because they will definitely get you right! Also the employees are very nice and they take good care of their clients.

Esther was kind and chill. She did a good job with my braids. But she wasn’t very considerate and she definitely was not punctual. We texted each other on Tuesday and she said she would see me the next day at 4pm. When the next day she waited 2hours before the appointment to cancel, I would’ve felt better if she had canceled that same day in the morning. Her excuse is that she was sick, Which is understandable, but with that same logic, she should’ve already known that she was too sick when she booked me. so we rebooked for Monday at 4 PM, I had asked her to let me know if there is anything earlier. When the day actually comes, she wasn’t answering my text messages so I had to call the salon to get her to respond to me. luckily, she found an earlier spot for 2 PM, but then she showed up extremely late and we didn’t start till 245. All I wanted to do was braid the top part of my hair Because the bottom part was already done. She started redoing some of the old braids, but without talking to me about it, she decides to braid my entire head when I only asked her to do the top part. It should’ve been a quick easy job and I know with hair things can take a while, but it should not have been longer than two hours. I feel like she intentionally prolonged my session so she can get $150 (The hourly rate was $50). In my opinion when someone takes that long to do something that shouldn’t take that long it’s called “milking”. She had no intentions of making things right after screwing up so many times. She just wanted to get as much money she could out of me. She could tell I was not happy so instead of charging me $150 she charged me 120. But honestly, I will not be coming back. I really don’t like the way she handled things it put a very bad taste in my mouth. And she was very inconsiderate with my time to the point I had to leave after she did my braids. If she didn’t take so long I would have her do a few more things to my hair.

If you are American consider spending your money elsewhere. The last visit l had, the owner Judy Kasue expressed her dislike for Americans/made rude comments while doing my relaxer. l told her not to leave it on longer than 15 minutes due to avoid overprocessing. A customer came in and she left a relaxer on an additional 5-7 minutes. l was polite but expressed my fear of overprocessing. Judy's comment was rude 'You are wrong Erica' you don't trust anyone except your mom'. wtf? What does my mother have to do with her leaving a chemical on for an extended time? Every hairdresser l've had before her, l have told them the same. Judy is the first person to make it all about her. There was no empathy. She just didn't care to hear of experience I had losing my hair to overprocessing. The kindness of Americans helped her to come to this country. Why disrespect Americans and complain of the kindness we've shown you. I had tipped her before that Wow! Judy Kasue is unprofessional, uncaring and plain rude. What an a$$hole. Smile in my face but just want my money.

Ariel was amazing with my daughter. We have had some bad luck when it comes to getting her curls cut correctly, and Ariel did such a good job!!! She was patient and took her time explaining what she was doing so my daughter could learn!!! We will be going back again!!!

The only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because of Ariel. She was so good to me. She was extremely knowledgeable about hair and the treatments she provides. The location is rough looking - beware of that. You're not going to a 5 star salon by no means. The person at the front desk is an older lady that hasn't been updated on either services or prices since the 90s - god bless her but customers need to be informed properly. I will be going back to Ariel because she did a fantastic job but I will not be going back to the salon.
