I was going to give the Ace Hardware side 3 stars. Good selection.. but less than attentive staff. NO ONE said a word when I walked in, and barely answered when I asked for help. The Assistant Manager was at the Help Desk. I was looking for a particular washer for trailer hitch mounting hardware. “I’ve never seen one of those and I’ve been here for years.” —
I replied, “Maybe you haven’t worked in the right hardware store.”
“I’ve been in hardware for 15 years,” he retorted in a very dismissive & condescending manner.
I bought something similar that should have been a sufficient replacement. On the way out, I asked another employee if that “help” guy was always that arrogant and dismissive. “Yep. All the time,” he told me.
So I was installing the “Grade 8” 1/2” bolt in my tow hitch bracket, which should be torqued to 136 foot pounds… and it snapped in two. A shard from the bolt cut me.
I went to U-Haul and got a set of bolts. They worked perfectly. I was so insulted by the staff at Ace, I decided I’d rather just lose the money than go back and have to try to talk to them again.
NEVER GOING BACK!!!!

Friendly workers. I ask them a question about product yhey knew where to direct me. They have fun kitchen items. I found a cherry pitter.

Older guy the help counter is a blow hard who won't let you ask a question without yelling over you, refuses to listen, has you follow him around the store on his tangent so he can find out what you started off saying is true, and then refusing to listen to the end of what you actually came to ask about. Just starts yelling about how he doesn't have it in stock.
Very frustrating.

If you want information on some things such as sprinklers they have a guy that will truly open your eyes. He is absolutely fantastic!!

I often go to home depot, lowes, harbor freight, etc but if I need something that's hard to find... it always at ace. Bought 100s or 1000s of dollars of nuts and bolts here over the years.

Bought something that didn’t work, although they don’t do returns on tools, Sean was a great guy and helped me out , got me a new battery and it worked out.
