2/5/24 UPDATED: I received a phone call today from Dr. Beau Beck. He called regarding the 11/23/24 Google review described below. Beau said the review from November made it to his attention yesterday and he wanted to reach out quickly once he became aware of the situation. Beau acknowledged the wrong doing in November, took ownership on behalf of the clinic, and expressed a desire to make things right. Beau said he was going to have Tara, the Practice Administrator immediately refund the balance for which I was overcharged. I received an email from Tara a couple hours later with an updated statement and confirmation of the refund. Though the issue was more about honesty integrity, and transparency than the dollar amount, it was nice for Beau to provide a refund. I want to align, work with, and take business to people and entities that are upfront, honest, and transparent in all they do. I appreciate Beau reaching out today, asking questions, taking time to understand, acknowledging the clinic error, making an effort to correct the situation, and offering his assurance of an excellent experience moving forward, with clear communication, full transparency, and accurate billing. I am updating my Google review to 5 stars as a result. I also plan to resume taking my horses to South Valley Equine.11/24/23: I have been taking my horses to South Valley Equine for approximately 30 years. The veterinary personnel have always been courteous and professional. I had two horses in the clinic today for an immunization appointment I scheduled last week. I was quoted $100 per horse when I made the appointment. Approximately the same amount as recent years. A veterinarian and technician I had never worked with greeted me this morning. Both of them were courteous. The technician first listened to each horses heart and checked their temperature. Immunizations were then administered. Everything seemed fairly routine in comparison with previous visits. When I went into the office to pay, they said it would be $379. I questioned the charges and informed the office personnel I was told it would be $100 per horse when I scheduled the immunizations last week. The office manager Taylor Lyne literally said the price has gone up. She further stated we shouldn’t quote prices over the telephone. I told her they did quote and always have provided me with rates verbally when I schedule. I asked her if they record their phone calls and asked her to play the recording back so we could all listen. She said they do not record phone calls. She finally agreed the up-charge was a lot for checking a temperature. She decreased the extra charges from an advanced exam to a basic exam. Again, I told her I did not schedule or ask for any exam, I scheduled and asked for immunizations only, the same as I have been doing for nearly 20 years. I had my receipt for immunizations from the previous year with me. It included the same quoted price without any exam. I told the office manager it is not about the money, rather the principle. I asked for immunizations only, the price quoted was $100, and that is what I scheduled. You came up with and charged me $379 afterwards without any communication. My horses were in the clinic for no more than 20 minutes total between the two of them including the clinic prep time and small talk. The clinic doubled the price on me at their discretion. Nothing more was done at this visit with either horse than any prior visit other than checking a temperature. The office manager said there is nothing she can do about it. Apparently this is their new business model. Don’t give a quote, if they do, deny the quote, and charge whatever they would like at checkout. My poor Google review is the result of dishonesty, lack of transparency, and terrible customer service when trying to resolve the discrepancy with them. Unfortunate after a lot of years and some good veterinarians. If someone from South Valley Equine with more authority than your office manager would like to contact me, I am happy to speak further.

Super helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. Cook and Rachel were very kind and understanding of our plight on a Saturday. Within an hour of calling, Dr. Cook was there with us giving us care instructions, helping us with handling an angry injured animal, and giving us great tips for safe handling of the situation. We were very grateful, and couldn't be more glad that we called.

The worst experience I have ever had with a PPE. This clinic failed on so many levels it’s actually quite incredible . This was an out of state ppe so we were not there. Dr. cook called to let us know what he found and that everything looked ok to him and he would send us the x-rays and report. Three days later still no report or radiographs sent to us. Front desk not much help . Dr cook not calling us back to help. Was not until I started to get agitated with front desk not carrying and asked for manager who did understand why it would be frustrating to have nothing to show 5 days after a very expensive and extensive ppe with lots of x-rays and why it would be important to find these x-rays for the second opinion we needed and get them to us. After many many phone calls back and forth and possibly had lost the x-rays because they could not figure out which machine they were on they finally found them on a machine and downloaded them to finally send to me. That took an entire week ,7 days of many phone calls on my part to try and get them to care and get me the x-rays and exam report which dr.cook never carried to respond too my messages until his boss stepped in and start handling the situation. Once we got them we looked at x-rays and noted what looked to be a club foot with rotation in coffin bone that the dr had not noted at all. We also noticed he had skipped doing lateral stifles as asked and navicular x-rays as asked . Meanwhile if Dr.Cook had noted the club foot and coffins bone rotation we would not have had bloodwork or any additional x-rays done and would not of been charged for them instead would have stopped the exam at that point. We did send x-rays on to a well known vet for second opinion who confirmed very obvious grade 2 club foot with 6 degree rotation of coffin bone along with sending them to farrier who noticed club foot and coffin bone rotation. This clinic did not handle the situation well . I tried to have blood worked stopped since we would not be purchasing this mare and again no one would call me back to get it stoped so I would not be charged . Worst experience ever would never recommend them . I literally have a voicemail saved of the dr. apologizing for the “fiasco “ . Unfortunately he cared way to late and only after many people at the clinic got involved to get this figured out .

Our mule coliced. We had two visits to local vets that sent him home and said he would be fine. When we finally got him down to Dr. Hammer, he was really bad. He came home 4 days later after great care from this facility. We didn't think we would see him again. We are very happy with the treatment we get here. We have brought 2 other mules down here before with the same great care.

This past visit was the most difficult of all. We had to put down our granddaughters first horse. Kyle and all those who attended the injured gelding were amazingly professional and caring throughout the emergency visit. Their evaluation and treatment demonstrated their veterinary training and experience, but the caring they showed came from the heart. Thank you!

They have some great doctors that are wonderful and very helpful. I had a difficult time with only one doc who I would avoid. The rest are awesome.

I've used SVE for years. I've always known their vets were top notch. I had an emergency Sunday Morning I just called to say I was on my way in. Dr. Cox met me there, knew quickly what was wrong and what we needed to do. My horse was in ICU for a week and Dr. Cox called me daily with her status and what they were doing for her. He talked to me every time I was there visiting my mare which was generally 2-3X per day. He even came in on his days off to check on my horse. He went above and beyond, and I am grateful he was the vet that helped us. I hope to not have any more emergencies but if I do, I will be relieved if he is the vet on call. All the vets I interacted with this week as well as the techs and even the stall cleaners were all friendly and helpful. This is a place if you need vet care that you would want to go. This is a first-class clinic we are lucky to have them in Utah.

I had an emergency situation with my stallion on a Friday night.A vet called me back almost immediately after speaking with an actual person on the emergency line.He responded to my place in a very timely manner and was so compassionate as my horse needed to be put down.South Valley responded when no other large animal vet would/could.I'm forever grateful for the service I received.
