Awesome customer service from Luna!
She gave me a preapproval on an RV loan and walked me through the process of buying a vehicle. I came back, and she honored everything we said and moved the numbers around so that my interest and payment were less!

I've been with Mountain America Credit Union (MACU) since my childhood and had high regards for their services, until recently. I opened a Certificate of Deposit (CD) thinking it was a smart place to park my money. However, when an emergency necessitated an early withdrawal, MACU's handling of the situation left much to be desired.
Unlike most credit unions that only deduct the earned interest in such cases, MACU went a step further by cutting into the principal amount of my CD. This practice not only surprised but disappointed me, as it's not common among other financial institutions in Utah.
Seeking a resolution, I attempted to discuss the matter with a manager, only to be redirected to an investment advisor who, according to them, could possibly reverse these charges. Despite my best efforts and numerous phone calls, reaching this advisor proved impossible. Further interactions with management suggested that any exceptions to their early withdrawal penalties were out of their immediate hands and required a departmental review, complicating what should have been a straightforward process.
This experience has been eye-opening. It highlighted a stark transformation in MACU's approach to customer service, seemingly drifting away from the credit union philosophy of member-first service to a more impersonal, bank-like treatment. The difficulty in accessing support and the lack of straightforward assistance in times of genuine need have significantly eroded my trust in MACU.
It's disheartening to see an institution I've been part of for so long change in ways that don't align with the needs and well-being of its members. My experience serves as a caution to others about the potential challenges of navigating their policies, especially in unexpected situations. Sadly, MACU seems to be moving away from the community-focused values that once defined it, becoming more like the banks we all try to avoid.

Really let down by Mountain America Credit Union. Found out the hard way that pulling funds early from a CD doesn't just eat into the interest—it cuts into what I originally deposited. Didn't think a credit union would do that, especially when emergencies arise.

If you're thinking about investing in a CD, take a hard look at Mountain America Credit Union's terms. The penalty for early withdrawal includes taking from your principal, a practice not seen with other Utah credit unions. Caveat emptor.

This was my first time in and after the great service and seeing the options MACU has available - I'm now a member. Brianda and Irie were both awesome to work with! Irie was super knowledgeable and was able to get me everything I needed + more with my loans/refinancing.

I moved to Missouri, trying to pay off my credit card because I’m purchasing a new home. They’ve been taking my money every month for payments, but now they can’t take a full payoff for whatever reason. They claim 2000$ is their limit. Sounds like they just want to collect more interest!! I’ve been getting the run around all day trying to get this resolved. Now they want me to download an app that I don’t need to wire the money!! They’ve been taking my payment from my bank here in mo. With no problem until I decide to pay my card off completely!! Worst service ever.

The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Had a simple mini mortgage, they never set up the autopayment correctly, then when they said I could I could use my ATM for the payment they then dinged my bank account fees!!!! When I finally paid off the mortgage in cash, their untrained employee didn't tell me there was another fee to pay it off, yes a $74 fee. So I waited 2 weeks for the deed, nothing. Only to find out they didn't process anything waiting for this additional fee. Went into the bank and was treated rudely by the Bank Manager saying she didn't like dealing with unhappy customers. Seriously! NEVER EVER EVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
