We have been using H&R block for 5 years and have NEVER had such a horrible experience. We opted for the drop-off method of doing taxes, and it was a huge mistake. The lady at the front desk never had straight answers for us. She was all over the place all the time. We had to keep coming in because she just didn't know what she was doing.
I have never left a bad review in my life, but I am absolutely fuming because I also got a letter from the state the other day asking for copies of our forms because they can't verify our income because there were no W2s attached with paperwork! We were told all the copies and things were scanned to our account, and they are not there either. I don't know how it ended up this way. Whether it was miscommunication on both sides or what. But to pay 250 dollars and have this result? We are not coming back.

Super easy to organize my taxes online and get the tax forms ready and submitted. It's great working with the tax professional virtually to avoid a trip.

Walk in there this will be easy kathleen nielsen one paper here you go. She turns around and says you owe 6200 dollars. No I don't kathleen Check your work kathleen you got it wrong. After an hour I make her bring over an associate. The associate says kathllen you have done this wrong. I'm calling a lawyer you were getting ready for me to empty one of my accounts over this. I'll be emptying that account on a lawyer. God the nerve of you...lady.

Came in wanting to know why I’m being taxed so high. I also wanted to know what forms I would need to bring in. The woman working gave me a bunch of round the bush answers. I had to blatantly ask her. If I pay your fee what forms would I need to bring in? Apparently getting help and 5 minutes of her time was to much to ask. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.

Messed up my return. Impossible to get ahold of anyone to fix it. But also impossible to get a hold of the IRS so just hundreds of dollars given to h and r block to do it myself? When I did get ahold of someone, she said she fixed it, but didn't so we got fined by the IRS. Will never recommend it to anyone. Better off doing turbo tax.

Terrible, terrible experience for doing taxes. There are such better solutions out there for MUCH cheaper and MUCH higher quality service. I was charged $500 for my tax situation and service they provided (If you can call it that), details below. I've used other services in the past and paid a fraction of the price and had a much better experience. Will never use them again.experience: it took my tax professional 3 full weeks to do my taxes, with loads of frustration along the way. Other than some company stock sold, my tax situation is very straightforward. I decided to try booking an online virtual appointment. I showed up and sat at my appointment for 45 minutes and no one showed up. I called the location and the receptionist apologized and ensured my tax person would call back shortly and we'd run through everything. Never got a call. Called again and had the same promise. Eventually I got a call late that night and we didn't review anything. She said she'd get to work and have them ready within 5 business days. Deadlines were passed and I didn't hear from them, so reached out in the messaging app multiple times for updates, without getting responses. Then had to call multiple times again after about 2 weeks and would get promises of call backs that never happened.At about 2-1/2 weeks following the appointment she finally reached out with a call and gave me a bunch of bad information that I hadn't uploaded the necessary files and that I must have purchased stocks that I forgot about, regardless of context I provided to her. Very frustrating. She was prepared to submit an additional 50k of income that didn't exist and told me I was going to have 11k due federally. Not even close to accurate. I totally get that they're trying their best and little slips happen, but this was just too much through and through. In the end it was a matter of them not opening the files I had already provided. It then took 3 more days to get an answer that they were finally complete.3 full weeks, unaware of files provided, not showing up to appointments, no follow up, no explanation for the missteps, and then charging me $500? You can officially call that getting swindled by H&R Block.I totally get it's busy season and they're likely swamped, but this was just bad business at every turn. Don't expect to charge $500 for the worst service possible and have returning customers.
