I paid for a pair of glasses in October, '23, it is now March, '24 and I have not received the glasses. I've made numerous calls and in-person visits for an update, only to receive a "we can't provide an update to you at this time". I've now worked with my insurer to reverse my claim and will no longer be going here. Incredible waste of my time and very unprofessional of a firm. Please consider your options beyond Standard Optical.

Absolutely do NOT go here if you actually need your eye wear in a reasonable amount of time. I will definitely be finding a new eye doctor. I ordered one years worth of contacts and they took 11 months to comein! The bigger issue is they lied constantly about when they would be ready. Every few weeks they’d say it’ll be “a couple more weeks”. I’d check in and it was always “a couple more weeks”. They were never up front and honest about the issues. Just be honest with people…I don’t know why they took that approach but it is so much worse from a customer’s pov. If you tell me you have supplier issues and it will be several months, I would handle it better than to keep lying to me every few weeks. Finally got my contacts almost a year later and they assured me the supplier issues are resolved and gave me $100 off my future order.Fast forward a few months and my husband was due for an eye exam and needed new glasses and sunglasses. He specifically asked them if there were any supplier issues and referred back to my ordeal and said he needs his glasses quickly for an upcoming trip. They assured him there would be no issues and he would have his glasses in “a few weeks”. Well, here we go again…SAME thing. They are lying to him now the exact same way they lied to me. It’s been 2 months now and still no glasses but they’ll be here “in a few weeks”. Uh huh. Don’t even waste your time with this place. Absolutely horrible!

Great experience! Treated very nicely from the beginning of my visit, to the end! Doctor was thorough and great! Amazing selection for glasses, and more, definitely recommend going here.

The eye doctor (I believe his name was Catts) seems deeply unhappy and uninterested in patients. Went for an eye exam and they told me that new glasses were 8-12 weeks out so I went to Costco and got them made in a week. Prescription was wrong and I can’t use the glasses I purchased. Called standard optical for a recheck and I was informed it would be $10 since I didn’t get my glasses made there. I told them I have $200 of glasses with the wrong prescription and I will pay if necessary. At the recheck the doctor was defense with me.Such a bad experience.

So I had a eye exam appointment on October 26, 2023. I ordered and paid for my prescription and glasses. It's been a month and a half and I have not received my glasses. I've called them but phone just rings and I left a voicemail a few days ago but no response.I think I need to cancel my order and get a refund since it's not happening.

I don’t typically write reviews but my experience purchasing contacts here has been so negative, I feel I have to warn potential customers. I purchased a year worth of daily contacts back in May. I was warned there would be a 4-6 week delay. 15 weeks later, I have yet to receive them. I’ve called several times and each time staff tell me contacts are being shipped out that week and they’ll send me the tracking number. They’ve even said they’d get me a sample set to get me by while I wait. Each time, they have failed to follow up. No tracking number, no contacts. Seeing reviews of other customers’ experiences ordering contacts here, it really does feel like a scam. Absolutely would not recommend.

This is by far the worst, unprofessional place we have experienced getting glasses. We use to go to the West Valley location, Sugarhouse is closer and we thought would be better service, the eye doctor was great but the rest of the service was terrible. First we were told the computer system was down and not able to take payment and we would get a call, a couple weeks go by, no call. We called the store, we’re told they were never working on the glasses because they needed payment first, we were told the opposite the day of the appointment. So, we were told after we paid, 4-6 weeks due to the prescription. We wait another four weeks, call the store, this time we were told about another couple weeks. Called back today, told they have no idea when they will be done due to their etching machine being broken, instead of them being courteous and giving us a call, this was our third or fourth time calling them. Here we are, school starts in two days and we have no idea when our daughter will have her MUCH needed and paid for, glasses ? and to top matters off, when we called the last time to the store, Allison was extremely rude, and quickly snapped she would refund the payment right now, that doesn’t help at all!!!

Do not order from Standard Optical! I waited SIX MONTHS. Zero updates, zero help, just waiting around reusing the same contacts for way too long because I was out.Canceled and ordered from 1-800-CONTACTS. Three days. Order on my door step. You decide.

It would be okay to just go here and get your prescription but under no circumstance should you Al order contacts or glasses through them. I’ve been waiting over 2 months for my contacts. Every time I call they say it will be another two weeks. Every single time. And now I can’t cancel my order because they have an “official ship out date”. Which seems to keep changing as well. The staff is sweet and understanding but I wish they would warn their customers that they would be waiting months for their contacts or glasses.

Ordered contacts on 4/13 and was told it could take 4 weeks which was fine at the time as I still had a few sets left and they gave me a few trials. After 6 weeks I called for an update and was told it could be another 4 to 6 weeks. It’s now mid July and my “contacts SHOULD ship this week and arrive in August.” A 4 month order time is not acceptable and they will not let me cancel. I spent more money ordering additional contacts from Costco which I received in 10 days. Time to find a new optometrist.

I rarely write reviews, but feel I need to warn others! I had an eye exam in late October and ordered contacts and 8 1/2 months later I still do not have them. They have told me it was a problem with their distributer- and have told me for months it should be another two weeks. I ended up getting a copy of my prescription and getting the contacts from Costco in less than a week. At this point they won't give me a refund because the contacts have a shipping date. 8 months should be plenty of time to fix a distributer problem or find a new distributer. The staff have been friendly and tried to get me sample contacts when they can, but have only been able to find me samples half the time.

Went for a exam and glasses at the first of March, and still have not received them. Was just told that maybe they will be ready in July. No communication from them have to call to find out what is happening. Very poor service, this is the last time I will deal with this company. Very sloppy customer service.

Regret going there. Employees contradict each other about their process. Made promises they can't keep. Found a much better - in all aspects - store in the area to get eyeglasses. Just wish I'd gone there first to save myself time and money.

A great experience all-around. Good selection of rims at any price. The staff were all knowledgeable, quick to serve, patient, and ready and willing to answer any and all questions. Though my glasses (both regular scripts and sunglasses) took several weeks to arrive, the staff let me know exactly in the process we were and once any item arrived, both the text message and direct call were very convenient. When I picked up my sunglasses today, the associate Brian went above and beyond the call of duty--provided most excellent service. In layman's terms, Brian is the man!

I don’t usually post reviews, but I am super frustrated with my experience. I ordered contacts last August and have been waiting for them since. I called today and it could be another 1-2 months. That’s almost an entire year waiting for contacts and it will be time to renew my prescription anyway. The staff has been kind in dealing with this, but this is ridiculous. I even tried to order from 1-800 contacts with my prescription they sent me and the optometrist denied it, which is even more frustrating. If you can’t wait for contacts, do not order here!
