The Central Book Exchange is absolutely fantastic. I was lucky enough to happen upon this store while strolling through the neighborhood my son lives in. My taste in literature is a bit off the beaten track and I can't tell you how many times Ive asked for a specific author only to be met with blank stares. After an incredibly warm greeting by the associate at the register, I asked my question (fully expecting a blank stare) "Good afternoon, do you have any Bukowski?" The associate smiled and nodded. Nodded as in YES, of course we have Charles Bukowski. I almost had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Bought the book and also received a couple good restaurants ideas and was directed to a delightful coffee shoppe nearby. Such great genuine customer service.

It's my favorite used bookstore. Their selection is amazing and the staff are so welcoming. It's a lot of books in a small space so you if you get claustrophobic, might not be great for you but I love it.

Love shopping here! They have an excellent selection of books to pick from. Their points system makes it really affordable to shop, as well. The staff is always willing to help you when you're in there. They are very friendly and make great book recommendations. I also love the wide variety of LGBTQ+ books available. They're also dog-friendly, which is an added bonus. Definitely will continue to shop here.

Fell in love with this superbly stocked hole-in-the-wall after we wandered in. The person staffing the store (sorry I didn’t get their name) was extremely knowledgeable about the stock and books in general. Lots of sci-fi and mystery, but also lots about f great fiction, history, poli sci, etc etc. Wish we had one like this where I live.

I've shopped here for years and I Love this place! Selection is always changing and always worth browsing. New and used books. If they don't have it on the shelf, they'll order it new for you. Instead, I left my name and a few months later, when someone brought them the book I wanted, they called me and held it for me. Friendly and helpful staff. Fun and upbeat location.

Had a wonderful visit while in SLC. Was able to find several books I wanted and had been searching for that did not cost a kings ransom.There was a fabulous flamboyant knight, not in shining armor but in the ruse of a bookstore store attendant who so thoughtfully printed a treasure map (map of all notable second hand and independent bookstores in town drawn in middle earth likeness ) to continue my quest for awesome reasonably priced well loved books. His name is Jack, he is great!

This is a hidden gem, and I'm surprised it took me so long to find it! They have a nicely curated selection, decent prices and a nice mix of used and new. I found the exact book I was looking for which doesn't always happen in used bookstores. I was also delighted to find the staff helpful, knowledgeable, and very passionate about books. What more could you ask for? I will tell you. It is brilliantly located near Tea Zaanti and Sugar House Coffee. I had myself a regular Sugar House day with coffee and books.

A little known gem, this place is awesome! It is a used bookstore, so they accept trade-ins for credit! So grateful Salt Lake has this little wonder! If you're a bibliophile like me, you'll be in love. ?❤️

Such a hidden nugget in the heart of Sugarhouse! Stopped by to look for a specific book and they had it! Ended up going home and gathering up 2 bags of books to turn in to Central Book Exchange, and now I have points to spend. Great excuse to tuck into this treasure every few weeks!
