I've been banking with AFCU since 1997 and aside from the occasional hic-up I've been very pleased with them. But then I opened two business accounts and began using them. About six months later I got an urgent notice that the account had not been set up correctly and that both my wife and I needed to come in to resign new documents. We did and were assured everything was great. About nine months after using the account, we got another call that something was wrong and we had to come back in AGAIN! But this time, they said everything was so badly messed up they had to close the account and open a new one with a new account number! Are you serious!?Since the pandemic, the wait for a phone representative can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour! Because they have pretty good online banking, when I call, I need to speak to someone, yet their automated system tries repeatedly to talk me out of speaking to a rep and wants to give me my balance or some silly thing. The voice recognition is terrible, so when I say "representative," the system replies, "It sounds like you're wanting to make a loan payment, is that right?" and you have to go around in circles several times before you're actually directed to a human.Last Monday I tried to log into their online bill pay service for our business. The system replied with a message that the system would be down for four days while they migrated it to another system (this was the first I'd heard of it. Might've been nice to send out a little notice so customers could prepare for this four day outage - after all, we're only trying to run businesses). Thursday came, but the system didn't work. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday -- nothing. I called on Tuesday and waited 19 minutes for someone to pick up (for them, that's considered fast). I explained the problem and they transferred me to new business accounts where I waited on hold for 42 minutes! A rep (salexander@americafirst.…) finally answered only to explain their job was only to set up new business accounts, but they'd TRY to help me. I asked if there was someone else that could help me, and they said no, they were the best qualified in the department. They'd ask questions, then interrupt me in the middle of my answer and tell me "they didn't need that after all." Once they asked me three times how I log into the account. When I kept telling them, they got so patronizing and condescending, I was literally speechless from disbelief at the way they were treating their customer! They made it sound like somehow it was my fault my call had been misdirected and were irritated that they couldn't find a solution to my problem. They put my on hold for another 15 minutes before coming back and telling me that during the migration of the system a very few accounts - mine included - were having "sporatic" problems, but that I should just keep trying every few hours and "hopefully" I'll be able to get access to bill pay. This was the solution they provided after more than 90 minutes of overall hold time!A year ago my wife and I were so irritated with them we closed our personal account. We have two business accounts we'll now be closing, and I'm a signer on a fourth account I'm going to recommend we close also. Clearly, their customers have become annoyances that they shouldn't have to be bothered with. After twenty-six years, it's time to say goodbye to AFCU.

I have very much liked banking at AFCU. However, I'm very unhappy with a recent loan I got from them. At closing there was a verbal request from the underwriter that was NOT put in writing or the loan agreement. I am being held to follow the verbal request. The loan agreement states "no verbal communication or agreement is binding." Be very careful when signing or getting a loan from AFCU. Your loan agreement that you sign, means nothing.

Terrible experience!THEY REPORTED ME TO THE CREDIT BUREAU FOR A LATE PAYMENT WHILE REFUSING TO ACCEPT THE PAYOFF AMOUNT THEY QUOTED!THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR OF FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE FOR A VEHICLE I DONT HAVE ANYMORE BECAUSE I TRADED IT IN. I took out a small auto loan, and eventually traded the vehicle in at a dealership in July 2023. It took 2 months to finalize the payoff because America First Credit Union would not accept the amount quoted for payoff! They sent the check back to the dealership! Turns out that the liability insurance I carry on all my vehicles wasn't good enough.so they forced placed an entire year of full coverage insurance on my vehicle. This was needed to be paid in full in order to payoff the vehicle. I explained that the vehicle was long gone and that I was willing to pay for coverage for the months that I actually owned it, but they refused .

America First Credit Union has always come through for me. Ihad a horrible experience with a motel booked thru booking.com and both the motel and booking.com refused to help. My credit union took care of my issue and I am so appreciative.

their app and card guard are constantly down and they are less then helpful when this happens. They don't notify their members when they are doing maintenance on the app or card guard so most of the time you are just stuck until it's up again. They really don't care about their members anymore, if you are a member you are just an account number to them.

Their low rating is well earned. Worst banking experience I've ever had. They were unable to accommodate a fairly simple business that operates in multiple states, not because of any regulatory or legal reasons, but their own non-sensical policies.

The guy said it's a big hassle to start a business checking account.He advised me to go to my own credit union.I called cyprus they set it up over the phone in under 5 minutes.
