I had my bmw service, had a couple of things i wanted to get fix. wheel bearing, gauges stop working, head gasket. when i tried to fix the gauges myself i put in a used one, work some times but not all the time, so with the used one in, i took it in to independent. after two days i get a call they said i need a new one, a used one will not work. i told them i took a used one out in put other used one in. they was going to charge me a couple of hundred to switch them out. so i went down took three minutes to do. but nuthing so i put the new used one back in still nuthing. 9 days later they call me in said its working. ask them what they did. they said they checked some wires. but didn't find anything wrong. if it happens again i need to pay 1540 for a new one. the next day after getting it back it did it again. so i go through check everthing and it working fine to this day. for the time they said they work on it i dont belive, plus a crack in my dash. before that. my wheel bearing was makeing noise. so i ask them to replace it, 600 dollars in less then 16,000 miles later. my wheel almost come off. i can see if i drove over 70,000 miles better yet, 50,000 miles. but to have your wheel almost come off under 16,000 miles. either it was a bad part or it was damage when it was pressed in. bmw specialist (not independent imports) say around 100,000 miles done right most start to go out. the part was over price, not a little but a lot. the head gasket was redone after getting it done to. the three things that i had done later had to be redone. me personally would never take my car back to independent import service or tell some one to go. over price for parts, say you need stuff you dont. workmenship was the worst from any place i been to. they do a job halfway and dont complet it right. with in two months i had over 1200, in work done. driven less then 16,000 miles. in had to redo all the work they did. i tell people all the time dont do business with independent import service. i know a couple of people who will say the same thing. my car its not a daily driver on the weekend i like to take it out. . i had the worst experience in my life with dealing with independent import.........

TL;DR; An understandable mistake happened while servicing my car, but they did the right thing and repaired my car fully at their own cost. They have the highest integrity of any mechanic shop I've known.I've been using them to service my Mini Cooper since I moved to Utah 2 years ago. Recently I came in for a 75k service and they let me know my clutch was at it's very end of life. I had seen the signs of slippage, so I had them replace the clutch. This is when things started to go wrong, but ultimately their integrity is top class as they made me whole at their cost. There was an understandable mistake made while replacing the clutch and I got my car back with air in the hydraulics. My first real trip with it warmed up the fluid enough that there were serious issues shifting gears. I returned it to them that day and they figured out how it happened and I'm certain they won't make that mistake again. They had never detached the hydraulic transmission lines, but they surmise that due to it being only a clamp on hose, that there was enough tension to let air seep in while they had it to the side.Eventually there was some new grinding issue on downshifting from 4th to 3rd that wasn't resolving. I gave them the car to investigate further and they determined that the only next viable step forward was to replace the manual transmission. They did the replacement and checked everything out thoroughly and then told me that they did it all at their cost. They've earned my unending trust for their level of integrity throughout this.Services: Transmission repair

I love that you have flags up, but they are faded and badly tattered. Not appropriate. Please replace them.

I have these guys do some simple work on my 2012 BMW X5 50 and the owner Thane seemed to be a good guy. He is a mellow tempered person that sounds trustworthy and knowledgeable. So here's the deal. Engine Malfunction code pops up. BTW the car was running perfectly fine until that moment. This code could be a number of issues - simple to complex. I had it towed to their shop. Not only did they have this car forever before they worked on it, I had to keep calling to inquire about the status. Without going into all of the detail, end result is they tore the motor apart and left all the pieces in the back of the car. He never could determine the exact problem. He guessed it was bent valves due to a possible slipped timing change. The key word here is "guessed". He tried to research what it might ge to see if there was a warranty from the manufacturer on certain issues. And at the end of the day said the he called BMW and they said they would cover it and maybe install a new motor. He charged me approximately $1300 which I paid. The car arrives at the dealer and says Thane at Independent Import should NOT have tore the motor apart and sent it over in that condition because it makes it almost impossible to determine the problem at this point. The problem then turns into a requirement for a new motor. I call independent imports to see what they can do to help get it fixed and Thane ignores my repeated attempts to contact him. Totally left me hanging. Now I am left with a car in pieces. Apparently the only solution is a new motor at $17k and a bunch of other parts. Not a shop I would recommend or ever use again. Go somewhere else!!!

I crashed my bike across the street in front of their shop and they stopped what they were doing on a car to rush over, run across the street and check if I was ok. They asked questions to make sure I didn’t have a concussion, made sure I had no broken bones, and when they noticed my bike chain had fallen off, they put it back so that my hurt hands wouldn’t have to deal with it. I have no idea if the service they offer in relation to cars is good, but I do know that they are nice people and will take care of you. Would definitely go there if i owned a car.

Feels like a "where else would you go" kind of place. A BMW dealership is overly expensive, and other shops don't do BMW cars. Their reliability for doing a good job has been hit and miss as well, occasionally they'll do a great job, but then, for something simple, they'll completely forget to finish putting a screw in or a plastic cover in the interior. I'd try the work yourself first, then come here if you can't find anyone else kind enough to help you.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. They were trying to take advantage of us.My mini was having obvious issues and I took it here to have them check it out and give us a quote. I suspected a leak in the AC, based on a bad smell when the AC was on.I explained the symptoms and left the car with them. A few hours later they gave me a quote of $2000. The quote was full of random services and fees that were not necessary. Everything from brakes to a new battery…? The labor fees alone were RIDICULOUS. The fees for the various parts were also out of this world.WORST OF ALL, they did not diagnose the actual issue. They were just trying to upsale us and replace all kinds of things that didn’t need replacing. We knew immediately that we were being taken advantage of so I went to pick up the car. At that point the guy at the front desk said there would be a $140 fee for the service. This fee was not disclosed when I made the appointment, and it was not disclosed when I handed him my keys. These people were trying to take advantage of us.We took the car somewhere else, got a free diagnosis and a reasonable quote.I would not recommend Independent Import!Services: Air conditioning
