This place is awesome if you know what you're stepping into, so here is a beginner friendly guide to what this store is and some tips/cautions:This store is overstock and a way for businesses to liquidate inventory. They get items from Amazon returns, display items, inventory auctions, etc. Almost all of it is new, but some of it may be damaged in shipping or by other shoppers. This because it is a discount store, do not expect it to be as organized as even a TJ Maxx or Ross. It is kind of like a thrift store but most stuff is new. It might not be sorted correctly, brand names are hard to find, and some things are in unmarked boxes. Be ready to google barcodes and names on boxes to find out what is inside because one rule is to not open any boxes. The tips:- The grocery is actually pretty good. Especially if you look for some shelf stable stuff, you can find things for very cheap. They also get some fresh food when other stores might have a surplus and can't sell it all. I've gotten many things like strawberries, gluten free oreos, canned coconut milk, and soy sauce for under a dollar each.- The rotating sales categories are good to note. They are posted on the website, printed in the store, and sometimes they have little flyers if you ask an employee- Students get a 10% discount every Tuesday if you bring an ID- Check the prices on multiples of the same item. I'm guessing this happens when they get the same item at different times, but the same item is not always priced the same. The price you see on the sticker is the price of that box, but another box of the same thing could be cheaper for a number of reasons. There were game controllers for $22 right next to the same controller priced at $12.- Go to collectibles first because you can't bring other merchandise there. This is where a lot of name brand stuff goes. It looks like just clothes from the outside but there is a lot more once you walk inThe cautions:- Like I said earlier, try to make sure an item isn't damaged before you buy it. If it's in a box, look for tears and such- Some tags say AS IS. That means you can't return it, so keep that in mind if you are buying something more expensive. Check with customer service before buying something if you are unsure- Because of the markdowns, resellers love this store. Unfortunately, that sours the experience and selection for regular people like me. Try to beat them to the punch if you can. For example, try to go on the first day of a sale on a section of the store. They change about every month so if you go towards the end of that time frame, everything will be picked over. Also, because of resellers, if you see a good deal you need to buy it immediately. Don't expect anything to stay on the shelves for long.Anyone who rates this store low because of reasons like "it's unorganized" or "there were long lines at the register" or "I bought something and they didn't let me return it" just don't know what they are walking into. It's a bargain store; adjust your expectations accordingly and have fun scoring big deals!

Sale labels very misleading. Arts and crafts 50% off nothing counts as arts and crafts. Lamps 70% off literally one lamp among a bunch of other lighting so it is easy to think everything is 70% of.f the store is super junky and messy. I'm sure they will take it into consideration and make no changes.

Nice Place? Hardly. After my first and last visit I will be referring to this place as “NPC”.NPC is where your soul goes to die. The employees are low-vibe as is the merchandise. And to make my neurodivergent brain even more on edge, there’s a forklift that just circles the store with shrill scraping and intermittent beeping. If you spy this forklift, you’ll quickly realize it’s empty and the point of this unnecessary distraction and noise is to add more frustration to the experience…as if “Low-vibe Goodwill” wasn’t enough.I had to wait in an excruciating long line ::scrape scrape beep beep:: because they also don’t have enough cashiers. I say pull the guy off forklift duty ::scrape beep beep:: and cross train him as an unfriendly cashier.Imagine having to work there? I’d literally quit my first 20 minutes into a shift.I’d rather pay retail and not ever go through that again. I also want to publicly apologize to my daughter for making her come here with me. She almost had a meltdown from the experience. But proud she held it together.10/10 would never shop here again.

May find a bargain. No prices marked on many food items. Discount signs in some departments not honored at register. Check out was horrendously slow. We will never go back

Update:Absolutely terrible. The store has a palpable feeling of dread and disdain. The employees and rude, unhelpful and treat you with disregard. You are treated as if they are graciously allowing you, the scum of the earth, to give them your money in exchange for second hand/returns. Definitely a low caliber and low motivation bunch of employees. Most of the prices are not any better than buying quality new merchandise. Some prices are even more than retail! Truthfully, the worst shopping experience I've ever had. -TrapperdadAn unusual shopping experience. This place is kind of like a mix between a thrift store and Harbor Freight. As far as I can tell, they purchase store return pallets and resell the merchandise. The return policy is seven days except for electronics. There were some good prices on some things, others are clearly full retail. If you have several hours to comb through the shelves, I'm sure you could find some awesome deals. There was a definite swap meet feel to it, and the chaos that accompanies it. Not an in and out shopping trip.

The nps store in slc is vastly superior, this one is slightly better than the layton one tho. Prices are buch better in slc. Also you can negotiate at the pricing desk. They don't advertise this but you can.

I am a new shopper at NPS. Thought I would give it a try. Bought 2 bags of nuts, got them home and they taste rancid. Called the manager and he said food items cannot be returned . I did check the expiration date 2/5/24. I won’t be shopping there again. I never noticed any signs saying I could not return food items. How would you know something is bad before you get it home and taste it.? Buyer beware purchasing any kind of food from this store !!!

I stood waiting patiently to pay for my items at the back for about 5-8 mins where the electronics are while the big employee guy helped a elder. Random customer looks at knifes next to me and after all that waiting big employee guy cashed the other guy out before me. Everytime i ask for certain things he always goes "not that i know of" and thats been the 2nd time. First time i had to ask another employee that actually helped me.Also dont fire your best employees. Favorite nps worker isn't there anymore cause he got let off. Nps sucks and over priced now.

Kind of weird and you didn't really save a lot of money but you do save money but it's like $10 if you buy a lot of stuff

Beyond horrible experience! Just left didn't buy anything because of the lady running the bargain area!!! She was extremely rude to my wife I am not happy at all, the l Iady should be fired immediately on the spot! Told my wife that she can't read and that it's not her fault that my wife can't read, when slmy wife can read can read just fine. We were filling the white buckets and no where did it say that the posters that we were trying to buy would cost us $0.50 more. She had extremely pathetic customer service or lack of would give negative -5 star review if possible.
