Word to all, be mindful of customer service and information shared with you by their various personnel regarding your contract status, your need to upgrade, and most importantly whether or not your monitoring system is actually being monitored. To determine if the latter is happening or not, be certain you are aware that they may not alert you. I accidentally found out about my status while seeking additional products. Needless to say after many years with them, conflicting misinformation given to me by their various depts, I also discovered that my service wasn't what i thought & my cost was 3x more than what my new more 21st century system, is costing me. They expected me to be obligated for additional payments without acknowledgement or compensation for a system that was outdated and as a result unable to be monitored as I thought, for almost all of 2023!!!! It's a relief to know who I was dealing with and to have been inadvertently routed to a more cost-effective solution for my home security needs due to NorthStar's lack luster interest in maintaining me as their customer. That's the only reason I gave any stars. Good riddance to this Grinch who stole my alarm confidence this holiday season!!!

System SUCKS!!! When trying to view live stream on doorbell...I have to log in 3 or 4 times to see who is there. Normally they are leaving by then..

Do not sign a contract with this company! They will make it difficult to stop the auto-renewal and they won't work with you to cancel it. They will just keep referring to the auto renewal clause in the contract unless you write them a letter. It's just not customer service minded. Very predatory. caveat emptor

Scheduled an install and was told I would receive a call the day before install with the time. Never received a call. Called day off and NorthStar Home said no one was available to help that day and scheduled another time.Again day of they won’t answer my calls and are blowing me off.DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY.I took time off work for nothing.

This is the worst security company I ever worked with. I advised everyone to stay away from this security company. They have practices that are very close to being unethical. Buyer be ware!!!!

I have had North Star Alarm system for 9 years. They recently sold the company to ADT. Now my alarm system is obsolete and the towers are no longer working. So I am told I need to start a 3 year contract with ADT and get a system that links me to ADT services with a monthly bill of over ******. I believe my Northstar account contract is expired. ADT tells me they cannot see when it expired. Im planning on stopping payment, due to me having an obsolete system. Thank you.

The calls never came when our alarm went off. The dashboard quit working and they would not send anyone to repair. Tried to just cancel and they said I had to send a letter. Sent it via scanned email on 1/8/22. Received a confirmation from them on 1/8/22 it was received. Over a year later I'm still being charged and when I called to find out why, they told me I "have to wait for it to be found". I said I'm not waiting another year to hope it's found. Still on hold for 30 minutes now trying to cancel.

BEWARE OF SIGNING AN AGREEMENT WITH NORTHSTAR. You will not be able to cancel, they make it very difficult to do so. Your contract will be auto-renewed for the original terms. We also had our renters sign up, after a year the house was sold and we had to continue paying for the service, which also auto renewed and was told we could not cancel, but we could buy out the rest of the contract. The cameras are supposed to be able to voice communicate, they never worked, only static comes through. The skybell stopped working after 6 months, each time I called tech support they were unable to fix it and would charge me to send a new one out. We saw all the reviews and people reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. We unfortunately are paying for a service that does not work, and again were told we can buy out the contract for the reaming 2 years. The representative that helped us stated he was the highest-level supervisor, and could only upgrade our cameras to fix the broken ones. We agreed as we are bound to the contract, however, they also tacked on another year to the contract. Either way, this company is going to get your money. After waiting for a tech to come to install the newest version of cameras, I was told that they only brought outdoor cameras and the original cameras including 4 indoor, were not on the addendum, so if the outdoors were installed then the indoor would no longer work. Was told to again call and remind them that we had indoor cameras, you must talk to the person that created the order, and no one else can help. STILL PAYING ON A BROKEN SYSTEM EACH MONTH AND NO NEW CAMERAS AND AN ADDITIONAL YEAR ON MY CONTRACT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED- DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY.

Constant issues with panel. They sent me a new one and wouldn’t send someone to install it. That one didn’t work right either. Tried to cancel but had to wait till the end of contract so I did and missed the window and my contract auto renewed. Had to write a hand written note to try to cancel and 3 month later still getting billed. Employee said I will get credited but when I called back the next employee said the other person was new and didn’t give proper information. Then they said a manager will call back. That didn’t happen so when I called back again that manager said I was locked in for another 11 months. Seems odd that after 5 years they won’t cancel it when they can see it hasn’t worked in a long time. So their solution is send a technician out and fix the panel and I have to pay on this thing for 11 more months. They even tried to offer an upgrade and that would lock me in for a couple more years. This alarm has been a waste of $60 a months for about 3 years. Just a simple cancellation would be the right thing to do but apparently they are not capable of that. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it did work good for about 2 years.

Deactivated my services and sold me to ADT after I finished paying for their equipment. Now I have a bunch of useless equipment (that doesn't work with ADT) and have to pay for a brand new installation. Feels illegal -- pick another alarm company.

When I moved, Northstar never came out to hook up the system in my new house. After several months, I lost faith. They are not trustworthy. They are only interested in getting your money. Customer Service means nothing to them. They have refused to cancel my contract unless I pay them out. FRAUD!!

once you sign that contract you are gonna keep paying no matter what (i closed my bank account to stop it). they are not going to keep monitoring your alarm, they are not going to fix the broken sensors due to poor install, they are not going to refund when they double bill you for 14 months, they are going to laugh at you on the phone the more angry you get.Need to file the BBB complaints, hit up the corporate comission, write the AG. crazy there is no legal action action such a scumbag company. tons of complaints on here but very few to the right people.
