Elk processing. I had a elk processed at thompsons and when I picked it up and took it home I opened my first package of meat and the meat was covered in coagulated blood from the bullet impact, the animal I taken in was shot in the head there was no bruising or bullet impact on my animal the meat was nothing but ****** bruised, unwashed, hair in the meat. Pieces of bone, I opened a second package and found the same results, I opened 7 more packages of steaks, roast, and found they were just as bad if not worse, this was the absolute worst big game processing I have seen in over 30 years. I took the rest of the meat back to thompsons and discussed my problem with the owner. I was told that I was just one of the 3 or 4 customers that will bring back their meat unsatisfied with the way it was processed. I was called a f****** A**** by the owner while waiting inside the store with other customers. Thompsons is not a meat processing business, they have so called butchers with no experience cutting meat. I took in a 300 lb bull elk and got back less than a 100 lbs of meat, which was dirty, covered in coagulated blood, 2 of 7 packs had elk hair in them. And every pack opened was full of bone. I wouldnt recommend thompsons to anyone I lost all my elk meat and its sad to say the money and time that spent in hunting but the loss of such a animal that my family and I where hoping to have to eat through the winter. I hope people read this and it helps them make a decision to go somewhere else for game processing.

I’m NOT going to Thompson’s again. A friend recommended them but this place has a new owner. After dropping off my late season cow elk quarters and back straps, I bought some beef jerky for sale at the counter. It was thick and lacked flavor.I called back and changed my order. He agreed; that was good. I asked the for backstrap steaks and roasts so I could make my own jerky. When I picked up my order, the man informed me the steaks and roasts were buried under the packages of ground meat. That seemed strange. When I uncovered them, the back straps were significantly thinner and shorter than when I dropped them off.....?!?!?!....I wonder if they pulled a fast one. They charged $181 to cut and wrap about 90 lbs of pre-quartered meat including 20 lbs of breakfast sausage. They offered about a $15 discount for payment in cash. I’m suspicious.

Took my cow elk here in January 2019. Was told the place was under new management, very impressed with how everything came out. I got a mixture of steaks, jerky and ground. I will say the jerky was really good but the slices were a little too thick. Just shot my deer yesterday and will be taking it there. Highly recommend!

Very disappointed in how my deer came back. Went all the way to Montana for a Whitetail buck and doe. Our regular meet processor was tied up with too many beef and we had to find another butcher quick. We chose poorly...the sausage is bland and more like burger, I’m finding hair in the packages of steaks and the worst part of it all...the price. We didn’t realize it till it was time to pick it up, they charged us almost double what our regular processor charges. I”ll cut it up myself before I’ll pay $145 for one deer that was already skinned and quartered.

Not impressed at all. I used these guys as all other butchers were full. I've had plenty of animals butchered to make a fair comparison. Here is the net-net:1. The establishment is clean, and appears organized. Good start.2. They are under new management. Not sure that's a good thing, but they sold it that way.3. The cost was 3X what I pay to my normal butcher. When surprised, I asked and was told "this is competitive pricing, and is what they have charged for a decade." When I explained what I usually pay, they stated that they take more care, and cut for the best cuts. I thought, "hmmm...I guess we'll see what the difference is."4. When the meat was unwrapped after being frozen, we found tons of hair in every package so far. (About 10 packages.) So far...I'm not seeing the "additional care."5. The cut was just lazy...I'm not sure how else to explain it. Instead of cutting specific muscle groups for steaks, roasts etc. they cut right through everything including bones and wrapped it. Consequently, when we try to cook a "round steak" as its labeled, we get meat that separates by muscle groups and we end up with 3-4 little pieces instead of a steak. Frustrating. Not at all what I was promised...and again...I paid 3X.I would not recommend these guys. If "new management" is supposed to be a good thing they didnt deliver in my case.

I showed up on a Saturday at 3:20 pm and all the doors were locked and looking though the deli door there didn't seem to be anything inside.I'm not sure if this location is still open or how to get there, but for a first time customer it was a bad impression.

Not too happy after all was said and done. Expensive to have everything processed on a good size deer to only get 2 lbs of jerky. Not only that they gave us the wrong type of jerky then just walked back into a fridge and got a different package of jerky which makes me question where the rest of the the deer went.

VERY bad experience with getting my cow elk processed. After spending 9 hours quartering and hauling her, we didn't feel like going home and butchering her. We called on the drive home from the hunt. The lady told us it was $0.85 per pound after being processed. That's it! She neglected to tell us about the $85 fee for de-boning the elk quarters. It ended up costing $210 for 95 lbs of meat. The worst part was that we ordered steaks, roasts and ground when we dropped the meat off. We called the next day and said to give us less roasts and make that into jerky. They took that as we didn't want any steaks!?!? They ended up grinding our huge beautiful elk back-straps into burger!?!? Why would anyone in their right mind do that? When I called to inquire about the mistakes they informed me that they are under new management and the lady was telling us the wrong price. She had been let go in the 2 weeks it took to process the meat. They said the owner would call me to talk to me about the problem but he never did.
