Great little spot. I guarantee you’ll be surprised to see that they’ve got much more than you’d ever expect for the footprint.

Forgot to grab what we wanted when we left Moab, found this tiny but surprisingly well stocked for the size shop in Monticello… they had the champagne I wanted the whiskey the hubby wanted in the size he wanted… perfect!! Very friendly and clean and it became our little landmark as we drove in and out of town… the only spirits south of Moab! ??

The only liquor store in the county! Good selection of hards, tiny selection of ales, and some wines. Smallest liquor store I've ever seen, essentially an overgrown closet. Pretty funny.

This place is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays. Opens at noon other days. Someone needs to claim the business and add some info.

First of all, when visiting Utah, and one enjoys wine or other potent potables (with credit to Jeopardy), one must include detailed plans for obtaining said beverages. Case in point: The boss and I flew in to SLC, stayed at the AC Hotel (very nice) downtown and, after checking in, went to the bar and enjoyed a frosty Tito's martini. Went to dinner and had a bottle of wine for dinner. NBD. Spent the morning wandering around seeing the sites of SLC then hopped jn car and headed south to Moab. Arriving late afternoon in Moab, we checked in to UnderCanvas (excellent!), drove downtown and explored a bit, then hit a nice grocery (Village Market I think, also excellent) and discovered that grocery stores do not sell wine (many do not sell beer either). A very lovely young lady (I wasn't staring hon, I promise) shared with is that one must go to either a state owned liquor store or to an establishment that "makes their own" and recommended Moab Distillery. Off we went and picked up a 750 ml of Moab's finest Vodka and headed back to base camp to put away the victuals (in a cooler, in our tent - more on that later). Back into town for dinner and a visit to the liquor store for wine, to discover the store closed a few minutes earlier. Flash forward a couple of days, off in the morning south to Bluff Utah with a planned stop at the liquor store. Doesn't open till 12pm. Did not want to wait 2.5 hours, so we looked up State liquor stores and found one, on the way, in Monticello (thought I was never going to get to it, huh?). Great! We head south, stop at Newspaper Rock to see the petroglyphs (very cool) and rolled in to Monticello at 11:30am. Hung out for a bit, then heades to Monticello Liquors. Closed on Tuesdays (our day of visit) and Thursdays. Beginning to wonder of we might have a problem. We see there is a convenience store in Bluff on the web site, so I call them and they confirm that they sell only beer. Alright, we head South, and stop in to a 7-11 for gas. Have you every been to a 7-11 that does not sell beer? I have; 4 of them, all between Monticello and Bluff. A few days in Bluff at Bluff Dwelling Resort (very cool And the only game in town) with a drive down to Monument Valley (a must see) mixed in. Resort sold beer in the gift shop, but another young lady told us we can get wine (no toddies, and the Moab vodka was gone at this point) with dinner "in town" and bring unused portion back to hotel. Somehow we ended up w two opened but unfinished bottles after a delightful al fresco dinner at the Cottonwood Steakhouse. Okay, moving on, and we are gettin smarter. We confirm days and hours of noth Monticello and Moab stores as we head north back to Moab for a few more days. While we did not need to stop in Monticello, at this point we felt the trip would be incomplete without visiting the Monticello State Liquor Store. Review: Reminded of the episode of Shameless where Frank visits a supply hoarder to gouge his neighbors during a blackout. The shop was a dingy, undecorated concrete block room with a meager supply of liquors and wine, which is not to complain. As is sometimes said, "You had one job"; well this little store did its job and did it well. And the gentleman manning the store was ebullient and effusive. Overall, and eventually, a pleasant experience. So, why the 3 stars? Let's agree to view that as a self-evaluation on preparation and preparedness on the part of your author.

Utah liquor laws are goofy. One could complain about the small shop and limited selection, but if they weren’t there it’s hard to predict how far you’d have to drive to buy beer that doesn’t taste like water. Nice owner, clean shop are a plus!
