EXTREMELY frustrated! My husband did 5 days in the hospital (ICU for 3 of those 5 days). Dr. Smith was amazing in the hospital and on the first visit in his office. Since then, it has been horrible service. We were told to go every week for labs on his kidney function. They said they would call us each week. Never heard from them. I would call every week and never get a call back. Finally I got ahold of someone because the lab requests were not going through. When I spoke to her, she said to start doing them every other week. That wasn’t suggested by the doctor, but by the office staff. She didn’t know for how long the doctor wanted us to do labs, so she did a 6 month lab request, which seemed good in the moment. However, I have called them every other week since the end of June (it is the middle of September) and I am still yet to hear from them. I have left 2 voicemails in the last 3 days and they finally called me back today. When I spoke to someone in their office, they said that they won’t hear from the doctor unless there are concerns. They never communicated that to us, we don’t have any follow up appts, we have zero direction from the doctor on how often to be doing labs, what the labs even mean, if he should be changing certain things of his lifestyle, etc…We don’t have any more information than when we left the hospital 3 months ago. If this were a minor health issue, that’s one thing, but my husband has had 5 grand mal seizures, 8 broken vertebrae, and more, with no answers. This is completely unacceptable behavior from a medical professional.
