We are a natural grocery and mercantile, nicknamed “The Merc” located in a historic building on Main Street in Escalante, Utah. Extensive selections within the store feature all types of natural and organic items including fruits and vegetables, meats and gourmet cheeses, milk alternatives, and many gluten-free brands. We have hiking/backpacking foods for sports and health enthusiasts. Asian, Thai, and other ethnic offerings make The Merc your oasis in the desert! We also have a full service coffee bar and cafe. We have fresh baked pastry items. We also have hot breakfast options such as a sausage egg and cheese bagel or breakfast burrito. We also prepare fresh lunch items daily for you to grab and take out on your adventures.
Lunch for after hike. Purchased chicken salad, potato salad, Pastrami & Swiss. Each was over the top fresh and delicious! After hike, returned for more chicken salad.

This spot is great. They have a lot of fresh gourmet level foods. They make smoothies and sandwiches to order. The shop is clean, fresh and well organized. Whether you're passing through or staying in town, it's worth a stop here.
