I've never written a review like this before. In every other case I've been able to work things out with a business before it came to this. Just over one year ago I brought my diesel pickup to Interstate Diesel because of a suspected exhaust leak. I chose IDP over other shops because of good reviews and the perceived promise of a skilled set of mechanics who truly understood diesel engines. I gave everyone at IDP (the owner, service advisers, techs) every chance to listen to my concerns, fix issues with the repairs they made, and make things right. I was patient. Every time my truck was returned to me the same issue persisted. This after spending thousands and thousands of dollars for the recommended repairs. The work was shoddy (misaligned and warped manifolds and turbo and exhaust components and missing shields, absolute garbage down pipe replacement, parts not replaced that were promised and paid for).In the end I had to pay a dealership to find these issues and repair them (essentially re-doing the entire job) due to the incompetence or indifference of IDP techs and the blind trust or indifference of the owner to their shoddy work. If I were you I wouldn't trust them with your engine. When there are issues the techs are defensive and the owner is rude and on defense even when you are extremely cordial and patient (questions and speculation are not an accusation). In all I made 13 visits to IDP to attempt to get these issues resolved yet they never were. The truck still didn't run correctly after they touched it and I moved on. I should have probably taken legal action.

I am so thankful for these hero's. My car had the check engine light come on just as I was passing the freeway and I barely rolled into the gas station. By a gift from god that gas station had these mechanics on site. I told them what was going on and they immediately had a mechanic come run tests on my car. With me being stranded they graciously offered to do a quick fix for my car that would take just an hour. I feel so grateful that they were willing to help me out on a hot July afternoon. Working on a hot summer day with these awkward cars really gives me an appreciation for car mechanics. Thank you so so much for what you do!!

I’m done with JP’s. I took my cars to JP‘s for years even though they were a bit further away than many other mechanics. A few years ago I stopped going to them when they did not put oil in my car after performing an oil change. Now my son is taking my older car through hot Arizona and I am concerned about the timing belt and wanted to have some preventative maintenance performed. I made an appointment and asked JP‘s to check the condition of the timing belt and replace it if necessary, and to diagnose a trouble light. I can do that work myself, but I just didn’t have time. They called me and told me it needed almost $900 worth of work to fix an oxygen sensor, replace my front brake pads and rotors, and to replace the fan belt. They didn’t even attempt to look at the timing belt. They then told me it would take an additional $800 to look at and $1100 to replace. That was the main reason why I took my car in there in the first place, and they didn’t even look at it or tell me the situation before hand! I looked up on the Internet how much a timing belt replacement should cost and the range was between $400 and $800 -on the high end. Because of my urgency and lack of time, I had them replace the oxygen sensor for $313. I was charged a $100 diagnostic fee even though I had them replace my oxygen sensor. Most mechanics will waive the diagnostic fees if you perform any sort of work with them. I took a day off work to do the other repairs myself and found that my car has an electronic clutch fan and the fan is not even belt driven. Giving them the benefit of doubt, I looked at the belt that drives the alternator. That belt is in near perfect condition with no cracks or signs of wear. I then pulled my front tires off to look at the brake situation. Both rotors are in decent shape and I have about a quarter inch of brake pad left on all four pads. I included a picture so you can see what I mean if you know what the parts are. They have almost as much pad left as brand new brake pads do. My brake fluid was a little low, but it was still in the normal range. While this business does have a nicer new front office than they used to, and they are now also focusing on Diesel engines, overall, I feel they have gone downhill significantly in the past several years. I did not feel valued as a customer. I felt they were attempting to swindle me. This is an honest review. I am an ethical person. I have four years of formal engine repair training and even almost pursued a career in auto mechanics. I realize there’s a lot I still do not know about auto repair, but I know enough to believe I was treated unethically.Services: General repairs & maintenance
