Buyers beware. Joshua Clifton listed a double wide trailer at 1255 Rolling Oaks in Driftwood as a single family pier and beam home. Only after the inspection did we confirm it was in fact a heavily modified trailer. He refused to own up to his deception and yet changed the listing after we withdrew our contract. This company has no morals and I would recommend that anyone looking for a home steer clear of any home listed by Joshua Clifton or Compass Mortgage.

I would not recommend working with Compass. I encountered them while searching for apartments. Jennifer Holbert responded to a listing I wanted to tour. Unfortunately, by the time she gets around to setting up a viewing the properties are pending... while we communicated for month she was able to provide one tour.

I called the agent representing a certain property because I needed help with her tenant. She never called me back. This used to be the nicest property on our street. Now it is bringing down our property value.

Lara is not a good person. She's very manipulative and will be very friendly one moment but if she doesn't get what she wants will turn around and stab you in your back. Beware of her tricks to try to get more money into her pocket!

I will not ever buy a property from Ellen Troxclair again. She misrepresented the property we purchased as having wood floors when they are luxury vinyl plank. She supposedly claims that it was an honest mistake to check the wrong box for the listing. I take issue with this claim. We asked multiple times during the buying process and could not get an answer from her. This is avoidance behavior. Why would you avoid answering the question if it was an “honest” mistake to list the floors inaccurately. If what was simply a mistake, once we started asking about it, wouldn’t then come forward with the error. I don’t buy that claim.Additionally, it is our understanding that Ellen was directly involved in hiring and managing the renovation of the property. How could she not know what type of floor was installed. In my opinion, either she was negligent in overseeing the property or she is exercising shady practices in her listing.We went through with the purchase because the house meets all of our needs, aside from the floors. However, we overpaid by $30,000. We tried to get compensation from Ellen, Compass Realty, and the previous owner to no avail. Compass stands behind their claim that they are not responsible for any errors in their listings.If you decide to purchase a Compass property listed by Ellen Troxclair, don’t believe anything in the listing. Verify everything. For me personally, I will simply avoid them in the future.
