Funny that there was practically No people and every single worker looked miserable! I walked in and they seemed bothered that I was there. I felt really uncomfortable. I hadn't been here in a very long time and I don't think I will ever be back. Didn't get to see some isles because it was too awkward to be getting hateful stares. Don't wanna go through THAT again. Never again

Reviews are usually written by customers but I am a former employee/Furniture manager. The environment there can only be described as toxic. The store manager Javier Sanchez is not fit to hold the position of store manager due to his many violations and personal vendettas that are all made up in his head. From unsafe work practices to workforce bullying and forcing upon employees unattainable work expectations. There is no open door policy at Big Lots. He has stated to me, the former Furniture manager that he runs the store and I am not allowed to respond with any rebuttals or excuses. He has all employees scared of him and uses it to his benefit to get things done so that he has time to stare at female customers. I injured myself recently and also found another job and because of that he has not submitted my workman's comp to get paid as a vendetta towards me which is a violation. Walking into that store you're more likely to get injured than to get items that you're looking for. Numerous OSHA violations, BBB violations and workforce as well. It has gotten so out of hand that complaints have been submitted to all three and he is currently under investigation. I also have or had a an ex employee quit due to the manager yelling screaming and throwing things and creating a toxic environment to the point where every day was a dread to clock in. For every employee. Not only that, but he has also hired young females and uses his position to his benefit him to intimidate them, this is not defamation. This is fact. There is documentation of the store manager breaking policies and screenshots of conversation with employees that do not abide by state law .This man has the audacity to take away people's hours and hope they quit, this is a man who is hitting 50 years old has no limits as the store manager because he believes he's some sort of dictator. Simply a store manager with no morals. I can continue going on and on about all the things he has illegally done but I'm tired of running out of characters and writing it all over again. Do me a favor, stay away from Big Lots and if you still decide to go, check your product cause you might end up getting sick. And if you go cuase the prices are great?! There's a reason for that. You're simply buying hand-me-downs from other companies. Hate to burst your bubble, but the truth is the truth, it's your decision from here. Save yourself the trouble.

I visited this store on Saturday and as I was browsing around, I heard a man talking kinda rudely. Naturally I turned around, and I noticed the store manager talking down to another worker. Instead of helping, he was belittling the poor worker out in front of customers. I'd hate to even think how he treats his workers behind closed doors. I will not be shopping at this store after witnessing this. Just unacceptable.

To whom it may concern : HR should immediately take action in the Weslaco Big Lot's asap. I've seen heard managers being rude to their own employees in front of customers especially the one tag I managed to read on a trip to Big lot's recently Javier Sanchez that man has to go. I can only imagine how long he's been doing this to his employees let alone customers rude unprofessional so un welcoming with this mad dog face. I love going to Big Lot's in Weslaco and I truly hope something is done asap for the employees and customers who enjoy going to the store. Sorry one uncool star to share review until this matter is addressed and that man is gone... A loyal customer!

Went down to visit some family and needed to grab toothpaste and stuff quick. Was passing by so ran in here stood around forever waiting for this guy Javier (probably the manager) to stop bashing one of the employees. Heard him say something like "don't be retarded'. My brother is mentally handicapped and found this very offensive and unprofessional. Yall are lucky I don't report you to the BBB and tell them what kind of business you're running down there. Never going back

Would like for corporation and upper management to go and take a look at that store and their manager that I think goes by the name of Mr. Sanchez as a faithful customer of this store in the rgv for a while now have notice terrible mistreatment of this individual first hand to several employees and worse yet if a customer tries and approach him he simply brushes them off will definitely not go to that store ever again

I go to this big lots from time to time since I live nearby and I happen to notice one of the managers (I believe he goes by the name Javier?) behaves unprofessionally and is very very rude towards his employees and seems to be very incompetent to handle the manager position.

Very nice store. Friendly staff. Just wished they had more dish SETS to choose from. Lots of loose dishes, but a set is what I was looking for. Was able to find everything else on my list easily.
