Spent several hundred dollars on our dogs... 12 and 13 y/o Shitzus... vaccinations, heartworm tests, etc... one of our dogs had been having seizures and just wasn't acting right. After $200 blood work, the vet says she needs thyroid meds and possibly has Cushings disease, but heart and lungs are great! Well... a week later, she had a seizure on Sunday morning, then started having problems breathing. I called SBVC first thing Monday morning to tell them that she couldn't breathe and I was afraid she was dying... they could not see her until FRIDAY! I told them she would be dead by then... then they said they could possibly get her in on Wednesday... ended up having to take her to the Waco Emergency Vet Clinic... she had a large amount of fluid built up... they said she was struggling, so we decided to put her down. Long story short... South Bosque is happy to take your money when they are not sick but do not have time for them if they are. Will not be going back... btw... the next week, we got a reminder card that our dog needed her booster shots! I am still struggling with the thought that the vet misdiagnosed her, or she was given the incorrect medication or dosage... can't prove it nor will it change anything... hoping to find a more caring vet clinic... this isn't it.

I had a really great experience here this week. My previous vet had resorted to using sedation for all visits w my cat. I didn't like this. The veterinarian Dr Zamzow. I am pretty sure that was his name was very patient and understanding. The prices for vaccinations and the basic exams was very reasonable. They were patient and I can tell experienced in handling my cat. He even called my cat "spirited" which was kind to my cat. She definitely is spirited. I used to not look forward to vet visits w my cat and dog. However I am somewhat looking forward to my dog visiting in June. I love the fact that cats and dogs have their own space to wait to be seen. Excellent and I would give five stars except it is visit one but they deserve it. They are on 84 by Woodway I am very happy so far.

NOT RECOMMENDED! South Bosque Veterinary Clinic hurt our 2 cute little dogs and would do nothing to help, to assist, to investigate, nor anything else that you would expect a reputable Veterinarian to do in case where someone at their clinic caused injury to our animals. 2 BIG THUMBS DOWN!

2 of our small dogs were hurt at South Bosque Veterinary Clinic. They were hurt when their vet tech takes them away to perform services...away from the owner. We emailed and complained. The owner called and said he did not appreciate the disrespectful and accusatory tone of our email and that he would NOT investigate because he guarantees 100% nothing could have happened to our dogs. He then promptly said you aren't welcomed anymore at South Bosque Vet, but he would send our records. Are you kidding me?He won't even look into it?No investigation or questioning?Unbelievable in this day and age.

My cat, Nala, just turned 7 years old and I have been taking her to SBVC since she was 3 months old. She has chronic urinary issues and Dr. Taylor has always been great with her and knows about her past issues. I have seen 1 or 2 other veterinarians there when Dr. Taylor was out of office, and they were also very professional and helpful. They really care about your pet's health and happiness and take the time to listen and explain. The techs are also very kind and gentle with my cat, and give her pets to calm her during vaccinations. I will be using this vet for as long as I am living in Waco, and I highly recommend it.

When I moved to Woodway three years ago, South Bosque Veterinary Clinic was overwhelmingly recommended as the best in the area. My interactions with their doctors for my very senior schnauzer has been only positive. The techs patiently taught me how to administer her meds and subcutaneous hydration. Dr. Zamzow (my primary vet) explains treatments and meds in detail so I know what to expect during my dogs treatments. He's also very patient with my rescued feral cat, even through trimming her toenails! Yikes! Love the front office staff and techs; friendly and knowledgeable folks! Go here for your pets health. You will not be disappointed.

This vet is awesome- especially during COVID, they're doing a great job of communicating with owners and are obviously very passionate about their jobs.

Terrible, money-making scheme. Staff here has been instructed to up-sell every time you bring your pet in for treatment, and a simple vaccine treatment could end up costing $200+. Full examinations cost $61.00, which is roughly to be expected, but so-called "simple" examinations, or those examinations that call on a vet to look at a single area on a dog will cost $50.00. In my case, the vet took a short look at a tick bite on my dog, called me up and said "it'll be fine in a week." For that, I was charged $50. I don't doubt that South Bosque has the resources and expertise to care for your pet, but if you choose this vet, please be aware of their shady up-selling and their unfair pricing.

Horrible, money making scheme. Brought my dog's stool sample, $100 later, they found nothing even though I had reason to think there could be a potential issue. Relocated back home, brought the dog to the vet I've used for 20+ years, didn't cost nearly as much money and she needed to be prescribed meds. When getting her as a 8 week old puppy, they told me she needed to get an extra round of puppy shots (4 total). Believed them, but now realized it was probably just for extra money. Also, when she got spayed, she was somehow 40.1 pounds, so I was charged a higher amount which starts off at 40+ pounds. If you want to order heartguard or any other medications online (through chewy), they will require that you get a paper prescription that needs to be mailed in, trying to add a few extra steps to make it more difficult so that you will use their pharmacy ($10-15 higher for heartguard). No thanks - will not be back or recommend to others.

WOWOWOW! During this certain time of uncertainty - things were handled super professional. My poor pup got in a dog fight. They took great care of my sweet baby. Was finished within the hour. Peace of mind is priceless. Thanks so much!

My daughter took her dog in the flu shot and got "up sold" into all of his shots for $250.00. He didn't need any other shots and my daughter had his records to prove it. They scared her into thinking that he needed them all!! Shame on them for taking advantage of a college kid just trying to keep her dog healthy!! We will never go back!!!!

I have been using South Bosque for my fur babies since 2011 when I first moved to Waco. Dr. Robert is very thorough and "problem solves" when necessary to make sure my kitties get the best care. I currently have a sweet geriatric kitty who has always been healthy but has been having a few issues during the aging process. I love the way Dr. Robert is truly working with us from every angle to make sure Parker can live out his golden years as comfortably and as healthy as possible. You just can't beat that kind of care!

Dr. Johnston has an excellent bedside manner, diagnostic skills, and is sensitive to financial limitations when doing a work up. I'd recommend him for anyone.
