They don't ask for ID or proof of income which is super helpful if you're unable to prove place of residence or identity due to living in the streets

Edit: last time I called they said they no longer make appointments. You need to get there very earlyCall ahead the day before and make an appointment. The times on the website aren't accurate but they're doing what they can. If you make an appointment they'll get to you, otherwise they may run out of tickets even if you get there before 8am.

We moved here and my husband has had back surgery in March and will have a second surgery in December. We are only on social security! It is very hard when my husband is in pain to leave him to look for a job! I am so thankful to Caritas for being available to us!!!

This facility is awesome ! If I had not visited the facility myself in person I would honestly only have believed maybe half of the programs which assist people in need or those who are just going through difficult times. There was only a short wait time, someone is always available to answer any questions while assuring privacy procedures followed when speaking to whomever is assisting you, No judgements made , each employee or volunteer I met was very helpful, polite, and they were vissably concerned about my predicamant truly determined to find a permanent solution while at the same time offering several temporary options to ease my worries. I was treated with kindness, respect, honesty and equality, never Made to feel uncomfortable or like I was less of a person because hard times along with unforseen issues landed in my lap. I finally realized Im not Womder Woman, I'm not magical plus getting older so some things just incapable of doing alone because if being honest everyone NEEDS HELP at sond help fme point so had to be an adult l and ask for help. Thankful there'ce like Caritas with such a spectacular staff, huge choice of meats, vegetables, grains, proteins and even desert's donated by local businesses or individuals. This agency also offers help paying past due utility services if funds available . They offer advice on health services , housing , childcare, transportation and other avenues of concern. Sorry everyone for rambling on so long but I wanted everyone to be aware of thlle programs that are available to the public if they really look , make an effort, overcome the hesitation, feel comfortable in going because finally you're sure that people aren't looking down at you but instead trying to help you from falling, and that there are many options or solutions waiting for each of you. So just take a chance, call them or wa;k in during business hours , reach out Im sure someone with a smile will take your hand.

They open at 8:30 am, but you need to get there early to get a spot outside. Bring a chair or something to sit on if you're disabled/elderly.There are some rules though....Only one person per household is allowed to be in line or go in. This makes the line less bloated and leaves open spots so that everyone may come in and get the help they need. You do not need to bring your entire family to wait in line. They can wait in the car. They do not allow sandals, house shoes, crocs. You must wear some kind of closed shoes. I assume this is insurance related. I never wear sandals anyway so I don't have this issue.??♂️No one judges. Everyone is friendly. I just watch YouTube until they open up. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They usually have pet food, diapers or women's care products if you ask for it. I love that we can "shop" again and pick our own groceries. I've gotten some great stuff here. Real steaks from HEB, hundreds and hundreds of eggs.If you make a friend in the line you might can make a trade when loading up your vehicles, I've done that several times
