So I came to visit my hometown and decided to stay here. We paid for an early check in and when we got to the hotel they said the rooms were not ready. We explained that we paid extra to check in early. The receptionist rudely said " we will give you your money back unless you want rooms that are separate" we have our 10 yr old son so no we did not want a separate room! All I am saying is she did not have to be rude!!

Great stay. Unfortunate that route to get to the hotel is a bit confusing. Service was over the top, with friendly and helpful staff. Even offered to get ice for me. Second time there and will be back if going through Van Horn again.

It was likely the worst experience I’ve had in several years. First, no one was at the front desk. I Rand the buzzer and finally a person came out from the back. I gave her my name and she told me she didn’t see my reservation. I showed her my confirmation in the Hilton app and her response was oh you’re already checked in. I am a Diamond member and received no waters or snacks. After getting into the room, we had a problem with the toilet. I went to the front desk and asked for a plunger. The clerk looked in the back and also looked in a closet but no luck. She told me she’d have to find it so I returned to my room and waited about twenty minutes for her to bring the plunger. Got the toilet unplugged and returned the plunger to the front desk. The hotel was being renovated and I could not drive up to the entry because it was taped off. The pool was also being renovated and we were unable to use it. The walls seemed to be thin as we heard doors opening and closing most of the night. At about 3:30 am we heard an alarm going off in another room. After about fifteen minutes I finally got up and went to the front desk to report the alarm still going off. The front desk person was mopping the floor and said she’d check it out. Breakfast was not very good, even my grandsons did not eat. No one was at the front desk when we left. I was very glad to be leaving. The visit was well below Hilton standards.

We had been traveling for many hours and happened upon this hotel. One word...amazing!! The previous negative comments were obviously prior to their current renovation. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. The pool and hot tub are still being renovated so we'll just enjoy them next time we are in the area. We will be back!!

A fine location between Austin where we live and the National Parks of West Texas and New Mexico
Nearby activities: Balmorhea state park, Guadalupe Mountains NP
Food and drinks: Great hot breakfast. Harry took good care of us, making sure we had water and snacks for the trail.

Our stay was very comfortable. The check-in went smoothly and effortlessly. The room was a handicapped accessible room with very comfortable beds. I was, however, perplexed that a handicapped bathroom would have a step in bathtub and not a shower. For us, it wasn't a problem. The breakfast was pretty good in a clean, comfortable environment. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

We decided to stop in Ft Stockton next time, not enough amenities in this run down town. The hotel wasn't bad, although when we checked in someone had been in there, leaving a winkled comforter and key card. We changed rooms.
Nearby activities: Ummm, nothing to see or do

My wife, a friend, and I booked 2 rooms at the Hampton Inn in Van Horn Texas.
We like to stay in hotels that don’t have a number or the color of their roof as we find they are better quality and safer places to stay.
This was no exception. The staff person who checked us in was very nice and sent us a couple texts during the evening to make sure all was well with our rooms.
The hotel was very clean with a nice area for a breakfast buffet. Our room with 2 queen beds was a very nice size with plenty of room to walk around. It had all the modern amenities including a fridge, microwave and a large flat screen tv. The bathroom was big with a nice sized tub and shower, plenty of towels, bright lighting and bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the wall in the shower. Unfortunately, the pool and hot tub were closed for repairs.
They have a good breakfast buffet with lots of offerings and an attendant who kept the place clean and the food fresh.
The Inn is right off the highway and easy to find. Van Horn has a population of 2,000 so it was nice to find a hotel of this quality in the town.
The Hampton Inns we have stayed in have been consistently nice, well run, in good shape for a fair price. We enjoyed staying at this one and can recommend it.

This hotel needed to fix its elevator as it was busted and stairs had to be taken. Also, there were a bunch of supplies outside it overall, but it just didn't look finished. If you want to go to Marfa, it's a great location to stop. Room was nice.
