We had an 11:45 AM appointment and arrived early at 11:30. We weren’t seen until 12:00, and the stylist, Esmeralda, was dismissive from the start—no apology, just attitude. Once she began, she commented negatively on my daughter’s curly hair, then added a surprise $65 charge because of it. Later, she added another $35 for an updo—even though that’s what we originally booked.
The worst part? The online booking system has no option to enter hair texture or length, so these unexpected charges felt unfair and misleading. The hairstyle didn’t match what we asked for or what was needed to secure a crown, and her only response was, “Her hair is too short.” She made no effort to fix it.
I tried to speak with her supervisor, but Esmeralda interrupted constantly and was visibly rude and dismissive. She even made inappropriate comments to my daughter during the appointment.
What started as a $151 service ended up costing $246.94, with poor treatment and zero professionalism. We’ve had this service done at other locations without issue. Sadly, this felt discriminatory and completely ruined what was supposed to be a special day. Never again.

The staff at the perfume section were just gossiping while side eyeing you. Was the gossip about a customer or a coworker? They didn’t inform me of deals and didn’t even inform me when they finally got my perfume out and dropped it off to the front. We had to re-ask for it and that’s when they finally told us it was already at the front. I had my kids with me so waiting around was not ideal. The ones that helped weren’t friendly the ones that seemed friendly didn’t help.

I have only been to this store once before. I had some make up that I had used for many years and the color had bee’s discontinued. I was shopping for new make up and color. The lady who helped me was very helpful took her time to help me match the correct color. So now that makeup has been discontinued so I went back to the store to get help again. I stood there waiting for help looking around trying to figure out the color. There was like four ladies just talking away visiting and laughing so I left that counter went to the back to look at some other products I was after. When I came back to the make up they were still chatting away. Another customer got to them first to ask for help and when she did they all scattered so I just grabbed a color that looked like a match to what I need. So we s
See if it matches or if I will be returning it.

This is an opposite type of review than what I currently see. During my most recent visit, I could not get even five minutes to shop in peace without being approached with a sales pitch. Everyone was very hospitable but the majority of interactions felt like high pressure sales and it is hard to trust recommendations that feel more like a sales pitch from a brand ambassador versus an ulta consultant who is well versed on a wide range of products

I had an absolutely perfect experience at Ulta on Lake Woodlands on 4/28/25. I went in the evening around 7:00pm in hopes to find someone who could help me find a good eye concealer.
With all of the allergens floating around in the air, my eyes have been very watery.
A young girl (I didn’t catch her name) Took the time to sit down and show me not only a new Concealer that is waterproof that would help me, but took the time to go through my skin care routine around my eyes to make sure I was using something that would be helpful for my problem! I really appreciate how she went over and beyond for me and it completely made my entire day.
This specific location Will continue getting my business because of this one interaction!

Shocked by the Rude Service
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Ulta in The Woodlands. I came in with a bride-to-be (who is disabled), her two young nieces, her mother, and myself—a professional makeup artist with 25 years of experience, recently retired. I was simply there to help her find the perfect wedding look and assist with product selection.
At first, the staff was kind. Since the bride is disabled, they allowed me to sit in a makeup chair in the corner while we tested products. I was respectful of the space, used only Ulta’s disposable items that they offer all guests, like Q-tips, and kept everything clean as we worked. We were clearly planning to spend around $500 on products.
Then, about an hour in, after we had selected foundation, concelaor, skincare, and were abotu to get into color, out of nowhere, the manager approached us and very curtly demanded I vacate the seat because it was “reserved for Ulta artists”—despite the fact that no one had used the area for over an hour, and there were two other completely empty makeup stations right next to us. I explained the situation and asked for just 5 more minutes. She only relented with extreme reluctance.
I was doing all the work of promoting and applying their products, helping my friend choose what to purchase. But after being treated so rudely and made to feel unwelcome, we cut our purchase in half and went to Sephora instead to buy the rest—nearly $300 worth of makeup.
This experience left me horrified and embarrassed for them. I’ll never shop at this Ulta again, and I encourage others to take their business elsewhere. No customer, especially one with a disability, should be treated with such a lack of respect.

I went in for a blow out appointment with Racquel, I told her I wanted a very voluminous blow out and if she can add some curls after..my hair was so flat walking out. I have very thin hair which I told her and that’s exactly why I wanted a blow out as I’ve done them at home and they help me achieve volume but I decided to give it a try at a salon expecting to be the same or even better then the ones I do at home. I expected her to put in some kind of texture or volume booster product anything that can help achieve the volume I asked as I have thin hair but nope. The curls were disappearing within an hour. Not worth the $100 I spend.

It’s been one week since Ana (a MASTER stylist and said to be one of their best at this location) completely ruined my hair. For two years I did nothing but have my roots touched while I regrew my hair out and since January no one but Ulta the woodlands touched my hair. I finally decided to go bad to blonde in January, and I was very upfront about needing to keep the integrity of my hair as well as the length. I didn’t expect anything drastic for a minimum of three visits. This was the second time I saw Ana and I’m not sure what would have ever indicated that I wanted her to do anything she did. My hair is chemically cut in so many places after she left bleach in the underneath of my hair for over two hours. I got there at 1:40 and I did not leave (I left with wet hair too) until maybe 7pm. Ana tried to really gaslight me into thinking all this was normal, but unfortunately for her I know it is not. She couldn’t even bring herself to just admit she screwed up…. But it is glaring. My hair is broken, brittle, yellow, and uneven. I would never go back to this Ulta for any salon services. Im still waiting to hear back from corporate about my complaint but they keep sending me update emails with no update!! In no way is this even acceptable. The brown hair pic is before and I’m isn’t just sick about the fact this woman is out there doing this to people. Do not go see ANA!!!! The first three pics are before pictures. Gray sweatshirt pic was what I started withThe back pic was how my hair was before Ana massacred it. The after pics were taken by the Ulta in spring who didn’t even know how to fix it but gosh they wanted to! I’m still waiting to hear back from corporate. It’s going to be wildly expensive to get my hair even remotely back to what it was and it’ll won’t be what I WANTED any time soon.
