If that tattered American flag that flies is at your place of business, you need to replace it with a new flag. I watch the Royal Caribbean ships sail out, and the tattered flag is quite visible.Thank you for letting me call this to your attention.

There is one particular dock at Marathon where there's a sunken bulkhead right beside the dredged out area for the ships to dock, and if you were ever one of the few people lucky enough to go fishing there, then you know it'd literally the best fishing hole anywhere around Texas City. I'm talking schools of huge reddish, lots of them bull reds, trophy sized speckled trout, sheepshead, sharks, grouper, etc. Unfortunately you can't fish there anymore after 9/11. So thanks a lot Bin Laden, you SOB, You ruined my fishing spot. But in the end, your body was probably eaten by fish. So Lol.

I wish they would follow the safety rules that they themselves preach. I have traveled all over the world working turn arounds and this is by far the most unsafe one that I have been to. It's horrible to say but I am surprised they only killed one person on there last 1@23 TAR.

if you're going here for a turnaround, prepare yourself for filthy conditions (no water trucks spraying roads to cut down dust) and a lack of anything resembling a formal fatigue schedule like the typical 14th day off. they'll also keep you out working in the rain even if it's 40 degrees out, unlike most plants that'll encourage taking shelter until the worst has passed at least. look out for each other because the plant certainly doesn't care about your well-being, just your production keeping in line with their schedule. someone gets killed in one area of the plant and they continue working others in the exact same conditions, taking no time in between to determine the root cause, rolling the dice as to whether others will meet the same fate in the meantime.

Employees get lunches bought for them by the company, but not one of these men who are picking up meals prepared for 30+ employees, ever, leave a small gratuity. You make 30+ an hour, and that person preparing your food only makes 10 to 12. All I have to say is shame on you. I'm a customer, who once held this kind of position in college, and I just find it shameful!!! Your boss is already buying your food.....

This is an awesome refinery. My Father worked here for years. The Lord blessed him with this job. The Lord put food on the table through my Dad. Marathon Oil has lots of high paying jobs. I believe high paying jobs are good jobs. I believe College of the Mainland has classes for employment at Refineries. If you want a good job at a good company Marathon is the place to be.
