**WARNING ALL FORMER/CURRENT CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ ***SEEKING CO PLANTIFS IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR INSURANCE FRAUD AND LEMON LAW VIOLATIONS AGAINST HILL COUNTRY AUTOPLEX **
I have documented proof that hill country autoplex attempted to commit insurance fraud after selling me a car with leaking head gaskets in an attempt to claim a total loss.
The facts and sequence of events are as follows.
I purchased an 08 Honda Accord with minor body damage last summer.
I began having issues with the car in January. Leaking head gaskets that the mechanic had told me had been leaking for a while caused the alternator to die. It was going to cost me 1k to fix the head gaskets and replace the alternator. As this should have been something disclosed at time of sale and I could not afford the repairs I did a voluntary repossession.
I paid to have the car towed back to them, and my tow man documented the car at the time of surrender. During the time the car had been in my possession a cracked windshield and damage to rear tire wells had occured. I reported that to my insurance and ok'd them paying that out.
Hill country autoplex submitted photos of both the pre existing damage and the damage I had done. However the pictures they sent in of how the car had been returned were not originally uploaded to the claim with Geico.
The car was eventually sent for appraisal were over 4k in additional damage had been done to the car intentionally, including major damage to the paint job, dents to the hood and roof, and a torn off spoiler. This changed the amount being paid out from $1500 to total damage of over $8k. Including the money I put down they would have made $5,000 from Geico (because they only pay out the value of the car) plus $2,500 from me totaling $7500- what they would have made if I paid off the car.
I was originally going to let Geico mediate but once I saw they were trying to claim a total loss I intervened. I called Hill Country to discuss the discrepancies in their story but they were not interested in working with me to resolve it. It wasn't until Geico withdrew the total loss claim and I began escalating the issue and threatening legal action that Mike reached out to me- not to apologize or investigate- but to simply deny involvement. He didn't realize at the time I had pictures incriminating them in insurance fraud.
Hill country auto did not know that the original pictures had been received and just never attached. I also did not realize that my tow man had pictures until I began digging in and fighting this. I reviewed the case to see when the original claim was file if any pictures had been sent in and they were. At that point Geico acknowledge this was fraudulent and closed the remaining claims out without payment.
Geico dropped the total loss claim and has opened an investigation for Fraud. I am seeking information regarding other instances of fraud as I know this isn't their first and I doubt it will be their last. If I find enough I will be pursuing a class action case to recover everyone's losses and asking the DA to file criminal charges.
I have screen shots of the emails between Angie and Geico, the pictures of the car before I bought, after I returned it, and after they had done the additional damage. If you'd like a more detailed account and proof you can reach out to me. I can back up everything I am claiming.
If you do decide to use them document everything with pictures and in writing, if you need to do a repossession return the car personally and take pictures, and have them acknowledge the condition the car is being returned in.
I know they limit the kinds of insurance you can use when buying a car and I'm curious how many of these insurances are on the "no" list because they tried to commit fraud against them an

If I could give zero stars I would ! First off I don’t know what dealership let potential customers leave . Josh was very hostile from the jump . He wasn’t wanting to sell the truck to us . He pretty much had the truck sold to his buddy . Very unprofessional. The truck has front end issues and we told him but he wasn’t willing to listen and work with us .

Tried to buy a truck from Josh, he’s no help and almost hostile. Anyways he sold the truck out from under me. Rude, indifferent and obviously low morals/standards thanks for scaring me away Josh!

You know I had high hopes on this place because of the good reviews turns out I was wrong. They have a tendency to not take their sold vehicles off of their website and they don’t answer the phone when you call to ask if they still have it available, did not even offer to help me find another vehicle when I showed up to see if they still had it……. Embarrassing.

Went in looking to purchase a vehicle to replace my husband's car. Josh was attentive, understanding and friendly. He got us into a very nice SUV within our budget. It was an easy and comfortable process. Was a little upset to find on the way home that the 3rd brake light doesn't work. But despite that we would definitely recommend them.

Rude and unprofessional. Save yourself time and energy. There is a reason that this place has so many 1 star reviews.

We purchased a used car from them and the experience was good. The car initially had AC and oil leak issues that were fixed without any doubt. Car is great. Highly recommend dealership.

Had a great purchasing experience with Michael. He was straight forward with the history and willing to work with me on a trade. Used cars aren’t perfect cars but it is a lot easier when the seller is willing and transparent about the vehicle history and potential problems. Would definitely go back to purchase again.

Buyer Beware. My son-in-law family truck has had numerous issues including a front door latch that is a major safery issue.Unable to reach anyone of authority in the office. Had to hire private mechanic and pay out of pocket before first car payment .
