“I would give five stars, I just wish the prices were better and that they had more doctors or allowed walk-ins. They are very friendly and all, I took my cat mojo here a few months ago and he’s the calmest, chillest, sweetest cat I’ve ever had. He was due for his yearly vax and when he came back they said they couldn’t vax him because he was flipping out. He has never once flipped out at the vet, the other vet I went to had no problems and said he was great every time. It concerned me about how they treat the cats there. They prescribed him gaba for next time we go but I won’t be taking him back. All in all, still a good vet.”

“We just had appointments with our two very senior boy cats. We asked that the older of the two cross the Rainbow bridge since his quality of life was no longer good. Both cats were handled with care and the older cat was euthanized very gently and compassionately. We have been bringing out cats here for over 20 years now and have always been treated well.”

“Really appreciated my visit with Dr. G! My dog has had health issues since we got him, so in the last 3 years, I’ve learned a lot on how to manage his issues. By the time we switched services to T&C, we’d already tried everything. Even so, I still learned a few new things from Dr. G, got great advice on other things to try, and I loved how she didn’t rush through our appointment. She also suggested advanced next steps but was quick to tell me we aren’t there yet. That helps me as a pet parent plan for what might be to come in the next few years.

Also, as a pet parent with a dog that needs to be on consistent (expensive!) prescription medication, I also appreciated them suggesting ways I can save money on his pills. That’s not something a vet and vet tech usually tell me unless I specifically ask.

“If we lived closer now, Zeek the GSP, would only go there. I entrusted HCAH for years with my fur babies until we said goodbye to them at 15 & 18 years old.

When Zeek got a cough and I wanted him to be seen asap. His vet close to us (we adore) just couldn’t fit us in. Sitting on 360 southbound then northbound on a late afternoon should tell pet owners how much I trust them. “We have been going to Parker Animal Care (formerly Am/Pm) for about 12 or more years. We love Dr. Parker, she is always compassionate, understanding and supportive when we as pet parents are dealing with stressful and emotional situations with our pets. I drive an hour away (more in traffic) to take my pets there even though I have several options much closer to home.

I haven't met Dr. Pocernich in person but she is a fantastic surgeon that saved my girl's life 2 years ago removing mammary cancer and just did it again a few days ago.

“I cannot speak highly enough for the wonderful folks there! My daughter got a hamster for her 10th birthday and we had the unfortunate circumstance to choose one with health challenges. I brought him in to be seen by their staff between 3-4 occasions and every single person I've interacted with there, from the front desk to the clinicians to the Doctors, Doll and Brandt were all so kind and caring.

This isn't the first vet practice I've brought pets to either and they now have a customer FOR LIFE! I have a cat I'll now bring to them for check-ups. If you live in South Austin, this is the place to bring your pets to be cared for.”

“On two different occasions our dog has gotten hotspots that became infected before we discovered them - on the weekend, of course. So, the nice folks at the VCA urgent care near 183 and Burnet are getting to know us and our dog pretty well. Kidding aside, it's a very nice, clean hospital and the staff and doctors have been extremely friendly and helpful both times. Our dog felt better and recovered quickly after that first episode several months ago, and I expect he'll do the same this time. Both times there have been follow-up texts to check on his progress, which is a nice touch. When it's after hours or you can't get in to see your regular vet, this is a welcome option that we've been grateful for. Also, FWIW, we've had to take our dog to another emergency vet before, and the experience was not nearly as good as it's been with these folks. So, whenever we're in a bind with our furry family member, we'll be heading back here.”

“Ok I'm writing a review now after 2 visits 2 years apart.i wish I had submitted one 2 years ago but thought it was a one off. Two years ago one of my cats had an animal bite on his front leg, then started running a fever that night. The next day I started calling around to vet's offices close by including one that is literally a five minute walk from my house but none could see him same day. Enter Manchaca Village Vet, My child went to the same high school that they give programs for those interested in Vet care. Their over the phone staff was spympathic and was able to get me in that day with Dr.Sandra Ontiveros, DVM who diagnosed the animal bite was from another cat ( I wasn't sure) and prescribed antibiotics (she verified the dressing and antimicrobial paste I'd been using was fine). He made a complete recovery. ***(2nd visit in next post as this is long)
This is my second review of Menchaca
village Veterinary Care ( had to type it out in full so there was no mistaking who I was referring to). The first review is on Google search. The second time I needed a pet to be seen same day happened on August the 28th 2024, I had a kitten born on June 29th that was in pain and unable to walk with it's back legs. The issue happened the day before, but as it persistented thru the night I knew she had to be seen. I called the Vet down the street ( literally a five minute drive walk, if I didn't have a car) but their earliest appointment was a week, whereby Manchaca Village was able to see her that same day. Taia Lubitz, DVM saw the less than 8 weeks old kitten in my care and after X-rays it was found that she had two fractured femurs. ( Neither of us expected that as we thought it was a dislocated bone) She gave me all of the the opinions ( regardless how unsavory...like euthinesia) and put in calls to the shelter and specialist ( which I went with). Thier techs stayed with Moo and comforted her while everything was arranged. They even sent a follow up request to see how she was doing. They are fantastic.”

“Don’t be wary of the Petco label. They purchased a beloved local vet clinic named Abraham Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Chan. Dr. Chan is the most caring, warm, and direct vet I have ever had. She offers really helpful information so you can feel empowered to make informed decisions about your own pets’ health. The administrators here are also so wonderful and patient. I had had issues with the past staff here— they were often disorganized and did not communicate well, which was frustrating and made me feel like I was completely alone. But I finally feel like I have support in caring for my dog.”
