“I don't know ANYTHING about liquor, but I wanted to get a special bottle for an anniversary gift for my husband. After pondering if I should buy based on the price, how cool the bottle looks, or the points, etc., I finally decided to ask for help. Their spirits Expert was on another level educating me on aging process, notes, barrels --I mean I learned so much and ended picking a really nice tequila and bourbon. Such a pleasant experience ☺️”

“For our bachelor party in Austin, we decided to switch gears from the traditional Texan BBQ scene and opted for some Japanese cuisine at Uchi. Initially hesitant about finding top-notch sushi in Texas, I was pleasantly surprised by the impeccable quality of fish and craftsmanship on display here. While the prices may lean towards the higher end and the portions are modest (as is customary with fine dining), the food quality and ambiance are truly unbeatable. Our waiter, who was nothing short of exceptional, guided us through the menu with expert recommendations. He even treated us to a delightful surprise--wagyu nigiri (which we devoured and I totally forgot to document)--knowing it was a special occasion for our bachelor party. For larger groups like ours, I highly recommend going the à la carte route rather than opting for omakase. Not only do you get more value for your money, but you also have full control over your dining experience. We indulged in a variety of cuts of fish, unagi nigiri, wagyu nigiri, shishito peppers, salad, and mapo tofu. To cap off our feast, we indulged in some tapioca and candy bar desserts, which we inhaled in record time. In the heart of Texas, Uchi stands as a testament to the diversity and excellence of the Austin dining scene. Try it out - you won't regret it! Tip: I recommend making a reservation before visiting to ensure you secure a spot at this gem of a place.”

“Friends & Fidos visit Buda and Proof Deli came through with magnificent sandwiches on Good Friday! The hot Reuben was fabulous, the Dali Lama was so delicious especially on Good Friday (!) and the Smoking Bird was out of this world. The doggies were treated to water and felt especially welcomed; the weather made the event quite memorable!”

“Forever coming outta here with at least a dozen or more single cans. This is my favorite craft bottle shop to explore new stuff. Dante was super helpful, and btw was 110% right about trying to convince me to swap out a really not good beer cause I'm sippin on it now and he was spot on it sucks ? BUT I'm stubborn, I give things a try anyway to see for myself, AND I've only ever had a few beers so bad they deserved to be a drain pour. I can handle this one lol. Thanks my guy!”

“I like this place. However, sometimes they are short on employees, and it takes about 30 minutes to get a drink. However, the flavor stays, and that deserves a 10/10. Here is the current menu as well. March 31, 2024.”

“Moved not too long ago and just found this gem. Great selection from excellent Japanese whiskies to mezcals. These guys gave a nice recommendation for something small batch vs what I was looking for, what a recommendation! Unique selection, great staff.”

“Nice little touristy stop. Lots of cool memorabilia, a couple dozen retro arcade/pinball machines and a few stations of old school Sega/Nintendo/PS consoles hooked up to tube style TVs. We had a lot of fun doing the scavenger hunt. It's a nice affordable stop for a couple hours of fun. The young woman working the front of house was very welcoming and funny.I was there in late January during a weekday, so definitely not peak tourist time. It's a fun stop, but not a "can't miss" sort of thing so I wouldn't recommend waiting to get in if it's busy.”

“10 stars if I could! This store is SO unique and so much better than sending flowers or cookies for a celebration. I did a birthday basket to my friend and it turned out amazing! And the service is FAST and the items in the basket are high quality. I wish Couch Potato was in other states! HIGHLY recommend!”

“Best egg salad sandwich I’ve ever had! I had never been or ordered but on a whim, I ordered this particular sandwich to be delivered. I fell in love, it’s so fresh & delicious. It was put together so neatly & wrapped in brown paper. I also would like to call attention to the nice staff. I was having issues ordering again so I called to inquire about the egg salad. Jesse let me know they still had some & I let her know I was having issues. So she offered to take an order for me for pick up. Lovely store on south Congress, I will definitely be going back to explore all it has to offer soon.”

“Great little shop with a huge selection of goods. Every time we are in town we visit this shop. The staff is always polite, and helpful. The locatin of this shop is perfect, we stop at this shop to avoid going to a busier less clean typical convenience store. I don't have a problem going out of my way to stop at this location, It is a much better shopping experience and I'm always in and out in a matter of minutes, plus it's one of the cleanest stores I've been in.”

“Had to review this one guys, very short but fantastic experience!Dumb stuff first tho; parking is okay. The store is in a strip, so it's gonna depend on how busy the surrounding establishments are when you visit. You probably won't have a problem finding a spot even for a large truck, but it won't be easy parking a big trailer or RV.I can't really attest to the variety in the store, I found what I wanted right away and didn't really explore. I did see a couple wine racks and a cold drink fridge if that helps anyone.Fun stuff now. While the outside may be a bit dingey, the inside looked fantastic; clean and hella organized. I was greeted immediately (more than a disinterested "hi, welcome to *store*...") and shortly after asked if I needed help finding anything. And it wasn't like I was the only customer in there either, it was prompt friendly service you'd typically expect in big shops like Spec's or wine vineyards, not a hole in the wall liquor store. From the moment I walked in, till I checked out and left, everyone was friendly and willing to help. The location is conveniently on a corner, and has direct access to a gas station. There are also a couple food trucks on the lot if you're wanting both food and drinks.Sorry I didn't snap a photo of this one, but I honestly recommend it. I know I'm easy to please, but the combo chill/helpfulness of the employees blew me away. I'll raise a toast to Chris Liquor. ?”

“Honestly, this is my new favorite place to get a well priced burger! Their smash burger is fresh, a fantastic size, wonderfully flavored and very filling. The veggies are fresh af and I cannot get enough of the fries!! The burger comes with fries and is only $11- hell yeah! I’m really looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Also, the little store itself has a fancy version of everything so it’s super fun to walk around while you wait on your food to be ready. It’s clean, it’s cute, their clerks are so friendly. I also enjoyed the 90’s playlist while I shopped. Highly recommend!”

“What has impressed me the most is the friendliness of this liquor store and market! They have local artisan gifts, cute displays, delicious local cheeses and sandwich deli options. I try to make it weekly here for the fig, bacon and goat cheese, made by Jenna. The packaged goat & sheep cheese is also pretty good. So many wine choices in this shop. I highly recommend stopping by and checking them out.”

“Wonderful, cozy wine bar! The staff at this location have always been so kind. I love the ambiance of this location. It almost feels as if you're enjoying a glass of wine at a friend's house. They offer a wide variety of wines to try, and they allow you to bring in food. I've seen folks bring in full charcuterie boards to enjoy with their wine. Be aware that these wines are fresh, so they have a bit of a different flavor than the wine you pick up at the store. Everything they offer is sulfite free. My favorite wine has been a whiskey barrel aged cab that is seasonal - try it out if you get a chance! PRO TIP: If you're hungry, order from Eldorado Cafe (another amazing local business) next door. Tell them you're at Water 2 Wine and they Eldorado staff will walk it over to you when your order is ready.”

“I’ll easily say that the owner of the store is very friendly and caring. We have a great chat any time I go in to make a periodic purchase. They’ve got a wide selection of different liquors, beers, and booze! 5/5 stars in my book!”

“I drive by this store on a daily basis and always forget to stop by when I need any alcoholic beverages. While cooking dinner, I realized I needed sake and I did not want to drive all the way to Spec's so I called Chris' Liquor and when I asked the guy if they had sake he was so short and kind of rude by telling me "yay, we have two kinds". I was so put out that I remembered South Lamar Wine and Spirits, called them and the response was the complete opposite! When I entered the store, the guy remembered me, pointed me in the right direction and helped me decide which sake was the best for my meal. I was so appreciative and I noticed that they have a great selection of wine and spirits. I plan on going back to this store often. At least they appreciate your business.”
