Came in for a quick check up for my husky Sunshine. The staff at VCA was super friendly and patient with her, as she is a husky so can be very dramatic and vocal. Though she was curious and scared at first, she was still super friendly, had lots of energy, and very happy with the staff (even though they did bribe her with treats)

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Horrible place, incompetent vets (if that's what you want to call them) and ridiculous management. I only went here because my normal vet closed and no o e else was excepting new dogs. My sweet dog would still be alive if it' wasn't for these morons. I am just now able to talk about this after 2 years. I should of listened to my instincts and not gone through with a dental on a 15 year old dog. Everyone except the vet told me not too.but I listened to the vets. They made her wait all day for the dental? Why did I have to bring her I. By 8 if they were going to cater to everyone else's dogs Snd start my baby at 4:00. I know she was scared and stressed and not able to eat or drink. When I picked her up at 8:00 that night she sounded so crackily like she aspirated. These idiots pulled 19 teeth on a 15 year old dog. Stop the procedure! My baby was in distress. They cleared her to go home even though she was so crackily. Overnight she became short of breath. I took her back the next morning and she continued to get worse until she coded in the doggie icu a day later and died. Didn't get s phone call or anything from this place. I confronted management about the incompetency and this so called manager tried to blow it all off as no big deal. Avoid this place. Horrible

They will not tell you ahead of time what procedures they are going to do and how much it will cost. For example shining a light on kitties fur should not cost an extra $46. And then they automatically assume that you are going to come back for three weeks for a shampoo and dip without asking me. Then they present the bill. It was ridiculous. I can shampoo a cat all by myself without paying them another $20. I think they call this micromanaging and the company is requiring the veterinarian to do this. Other veterinarians don't do it this way they keep in mind that you don't want to spend every last dime you have.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I suddenly encountered my cat passing away yesterday. I rushed him to BluePearl Animal Hospital, calling ahead of time to tell them I thought my cat was dying. BluePearl did not have a vet on staff and told me to go to this VCA location. I called this VCA location and informed them that I think my cat has passed but I need to check his vitals (ie is his heart beating and is he breathing). The ignorant, callous old lady who works the front desk told me they could not check my cat's vitals. I begged, saying I think he's dead but need to know for sure (at this point my cat's eyes were rolled back and blood was gushing from his mouth and nose). She told me her hands were tied and could not check my cats vitals. I was already at VCA by this point and rushed my cat into the lobby, only for this same old lady to shake her head at me and tell my mother she needs to calm down (again, our cat was gushing blood out of his nose and mouth - why the heck would I be calm). 2 vet techs heard the commotion and were nice enough to come out, check our cat's heart beat and tell us he had passed (that's all we wanted to know). If you care for your pets and want compassionate care, this is not the place to go. I hope this business shuts down for its neglect (telling me you cannot check a cat's heart beat because you're "all booked for the day"). The old lady deserves to be fired and never work with animals again. She had the audacity to tell me to calm down and drive to Rowlett with a bleeding, dying cat (20 minute drive away) because she could not check his heart beat. Thank God for the 2 amazing vet techs that came out and helped give us closure. You 2 were our saving grace.

Dr. Nightingale was great -very compassionate with our 14 year old dog and rescue cat, but unfortunately his colleagues are not so and I will take my business elsewhere. In particular, beware of Dr. Jason Hardiman. He is the least compassionate vet I have ever encountered and needs immediate training on end of life care and appropriate bedside manner. He took no care in reading my dog's file, tried to shame me for his condition and then proceeded to talk about me to the staff while I was waiting in the room after I asked to see Dr. Hardiman instead. Incompetent at best, but absolutely unprofessional in every respect.

Best vet ever!! Our puppy has had bad skin issues. It was terrible. He gave us a shampoo and an injection and voila! His coat is so shiny and he doesn’t smell!!! I love the Dr!! Thank you!!

So the price was a little high but they helped us with to diagnose our puppy and get him back safely. We did find heart worms but they are going to be giving him some antibiotics to treat because that is the best they could do.

My wife's box turtle Zippy needed his nails trimmed but after being quoted about $100 bucks by another place if I gave them a deposit several days in advance I called VCA. They said no problem, bring him down. Half an hour later without an appointment they saw him and trimmed his nails for $24, which is the price they charge for dogs because they didn't have a price sheet for turtles.The ladies at the desk were hilarious, the trip was quick and painless (at least Zippy didn't seem to mind) and overall it was a great experience.

Price gauged and shamed while my dog lays dying. Your pricing is not relative to any other vet in the area despite your claims to be. I brought my dog in basically dying and prepared to spend several hundred dollars to find out what's wrong and treat him. But then your staff says the xray alone is $400 and the treatment plan I was presented to DIAGNOSE my dog was over $2000. With the possibility of $3000 surgery to follow. I was told that the price was average for xrays, so I called an EMERGENCY VET CLINIC while in the room with the tech to find out how much they charged for the same xray and it was $180 less than what you quoted. Almost 200 less at a place that should have been more expensive than you. I knew right then and there you were just trying to gauge me. And now I had to pay you $340 for a visit and some meds and cant afford to go to another vet to find out what's actually wrong, because did I mention they wanted to charge me all of this without even knowing what was wrong and with no guarantee that I wouldn't have to keep paying for their guessing game to figure it out? And then to add insult to injury, your staff made me feel bad that I couldn't afford to pay for your price gauged xray. I am so disappointed and will personally make sure that I tell every person I know and meet in this area about my experience with you. And because of your greediness, this experience probably ends up with my dog dying.

i debated over making this review a few days, but i feel it needs to be said. we noticed one of our cats had lost quite a bit of weight. we previously have brought 3 of our other cats to this vet with no issues and was happy with the results. we felt confident in their ability to help this cat as well. there were no signs until the day we had to take him to the vet that it was his teeth causing the problem. the only sign we had is that sometimes he would shake his head after eating something. we took him up there and they took him to the back to weigh him. a little while later he is brought back with vet tech and vet in tow telling us it's his teeth. and he showed us a picture on his cell phone. it was horrible and his roots were visible. my husband asked for the picture in which dr. nightingale agreed. (he asked for the picture 3x but never recieved it). he told us that he may have to have all his teeth taken out worst case scenario. i nervously joked that he would have to eat pate the rest of his life. the dr. joked that he could just gulp the food like a marble. they gave us a plan that had a price range of over 1k in costs. depending on how the teeth were once they had him under etc. but first we had to get rid of the infection before doing anything (understandable) . they gave him an opioid medication for pain and antibiotics for the infection that cost about $50. we ended up having to sign up for a wellness plan that helped out with dental but did not cover extractions just so we could maybe afford all of this. we brought him home and he immediately started pawing at his face and bleeding profusely from his mouth. he had not done this before so we called the vet back in which they said it was normal. i hope no one with a pet goes through this its mortifying. my baby is in so much pain he's trying to get the tooth out on his own and bloody stream is hanging from his mouth and his paws are covered in blood. we ask them to please board him so someone could keep an eye on him and help him if he needs it. they seemed reluctant but agreed. we brought him up and since we were both concerened we forgot his medicine. the pain medication is given every 12 hours (in which he recieved earlier in the evening by the vet tech) and his anti biotic in which is given once a day (which he also got at the same time as the pain meds). they really didn't like this and said they would have to charge us again for the medication in which we said was fine. the next day i went to pick him up and after 20 mins he was brought out in his carrier and we took him home. we noticed he still had dried blood on his paws and he was absolutely starving. he tried to eat dry food and i had to take him to another room and give him some wet food. after looking at the bill for his boarding we saw that we were charged for his medication twice (he would only have been given one pain dose during this time). my husband called and was told he was only given his pain medicine but twice? that would mean that they overdosed him if that was true. we also noticed that he started making a clacking sound sometimes (he wasn't doing this before either). after some consideration my husband talked to a friend of ours who also runs a boarding kennel and asked her about the vet she uses. we ended up calling them and the lady he talked to , talked to my husband for over 30 minutes listening to everything we have been through. we decided to take him there. immediately we noticed they really cared and had compassion for our kitty whereas there was none at VCA. after the vet examined him she gave us two plans to choose from for his care and both were considerably cheaper than what VCA was trying to charge. we decided (since he had just taken his last dose of antibiotics) that we would leave him there and get his teeth taken care of. he ended up having to have 8 teeth removed and did very well. we were also informed that the tooth with the roots exposed were done by the previous vet at VCA. they had to have dug the plaque off for that to

My 4 year old German Shepherd mix has been going to this location for the last 4 years and I was planning to switch because of the cost of care but thanks to Dr. Lott's and Karen at front desk we are staying. My dog was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia and they both listened to my concerns and helped us tremendously. Now my baby is receiving the supplements and treatment he needs and I am not stressing about cost. It is hard to find veterinarians and staff who truly care about both customers and their pets. Speak your concerns and they will work with you. I am grateful we found them!

THEY ARE A MONEY HUNGRY ORGANIZATION WITHOUT ANY REGARD FOR THE ANIMALS THEY TREAT!! My dog was mauled by someone else's dog in an unprovoked attack. We took him to VCA because it was the closest animal hospital. They checked him out then told us it would be $6100 for the surgery to treat his injuries and requested all of the money up front. We were prepared to euthanize because we simply didn't have all of the money upfront. At the last minute we chose to just take him home with meds to keep him comfy. Took him to another animal hospital and when they got the medical records, we were told that VCA didn't do ANY tests to determine the severity of his injuries. To add insult to injury, he wasn't even stable enough to have surgery. What the hell did I pay $192 for, if they didn't do any tests?!

BEWARE! (Sorry this is long, please read) Do NOT take your pets here. They allowed my dog to suffer after charging me over a 1K! It all started on May 19. June seemed lethargic and wouldn't really eat or drink. However she was still walking around, but she had been vomiting a yellowish liquid. During the night she pooped blood. As soon as they opened Monday Morning the 20th I brought her in. At this point she was still walking and pulling the leash as normal. They placed me in a room where we sat for 2.5 hours total. At this point she was pooping blood. It looked like orange/red jelly. I told them I didn't want her in pain and I brought up when do I know it's time to put her to sleep. The guy looked me dead in the eye and said she's not there. He said she had pancreatitis. He gave her SubQ fluids and sent us home with pain meds, antibiotics, and anti nausea meds. I asked what to look for if she is getting worse. He said labored breathing, increased depression, more lethargic. The next morning the 21st she was breathing hard and wouldn't get up. I picked my daughter up from school as she was her dog so she could say goodbye as I thought it was time. She wouldn't even walk. I literally carried her inside where they put us in a room. A woman this time asked if we would wait a few so she could look at the xrays from the day before. She finally came back in and told us that she believes it's pancreatitis and pneumonia (they said nothing about pneumonia the day before, same exact X-ray from the day prior) she then said she is reactive and when I asked if it's time to put her down she said "I'm not the type of person to give up". She made us have hope. She sold us SubQ fluids iv bag, needles, and more meds so we could give them to her at home. We payed another $180 and took her home with hope she would turn around. This was at noon. I left the house at 230 to pick my daughter up from school. When I returned at 310 June had passed. She was laying half on and half off her bed and in a puddle of her own vomit with her eyes open. I'm almost certain she suffered a horrible death while i was gone, based solely on how she was sprawled out. I immediately called them to let them know she passed. I feel as if they let our baby suffer because they saw how scared we were and that we'd do anything so save her. The very next morning after she passed we received a text from a vet trying to sell us more antibiotics. They are money hungry and don't actually care about your pets. BEWARE!!! We took her elsewhere to be cremated so they wouldn't get another dime from us.

I sent the following review to the manager at this location I never heard from them. Another example of their lack of professionalism. Stay away from this location. I took my dog in about a skin allergy. I spent almost $300.00. I left with 2 prescriptions that had 1 refills each. It clearly said on the bottles that the refills we're valid for 1 year but when I tried to fill them online the office refused to fill them. I then went to the office and they refilled 1 and told me I needed to come back the next day because the vet that issued the medicine was not there. The following day I received a call informing me that they refused to honor the refill and that I needed to pay for an office visit in order them to honor the refill. Total rip off
