Dr Khan, and her staff at this location are very invested in providing the best possible care at a cost effective level for your furry family members. We had an emergency and they squeezed us in to see our Mastiff. Dr Khan then called us at 9pm with results and care plan, this really showed us the dedication she has towards her patients. ??

Lack of communication!I had my cat scheduled for a spay on 1/23/24, and today (1/22/24) at 5pm I called to see if there is anything I need to do tonight to prepare for her surgery tomorrow. This is when they informed me that her appointment had been cancelled because they will not have a doctor in tomorrow and all appointments had been rescheduled for today. I never got any calls, voicemails, emails, no kind of communication about this scheduling change. When I mentioned that, the lady on the phone said it's because they don't contact me, they contact the shelter I got her from. This is my problem with the whole issue. I got her from the shelter 4 months ago, she is MY cat, not the shelters cat. I am the one that called and made the appointment, not the shelter. I am the one physically bringing her to the appointment, not the shelter. I am the one that took time off work to bring her to this appointment. In what world does it make sense to contact anyone other than the owner of the animal in regards to her appointment scheduling????? If someone had contacted me in advance so I could change my arrangements this wouldn't even be an issue. They didn't contact me AT ALL, and I only found out because I called them! I will never bring an animal here because I cannot trust them to communicate properly in regards to my pets care. Luckily, after 5pm on the day before, I was able to get her scheduled with another vet that will communicate effectively. I am very upset about this situation and will never recommend this vet office to anyone.

My dog loves Dr. Khan. He was attacked by a Possum and I originally took him to another Vet. Which they didn't explain anything to me and only said he had a hot spot. So I lost confidence and took him to Dr. Khan for a second opinion.Dr. Khan explained that technically a hot spot is dermatitis and the only thing different she'd do is give him a different oral antibiotic. To me though, she did so much more than the other Vet. 1st, she gave me respect by acknowledging my dog had been attacked with puncture wounds. She then actually explained everything to me. Including putting my mind at ease by letting me know possums don't carry Rabies. Something I didn't tell either Vet was I have experience in the medical profession with trauma. I've been a Combat Medic in the US Army, an EMT and work in surgery now. So I know trauma and lazy diagnostic skills when I see it. When the 1st Vet walked in, said "hot spot" and walked out. I knew that wasn't the Vet for my dog or me. In contrast, after my dog saw Dr. Khan and we were leaving the office. My dog Bruno had a huge smile on his face and for the 1st time since the attack. He actually felt better. Which I can't say happened with the 1st Vet. Whatever Dr. Khan at Houston Animal Hospital did. She got a new patient. Along with my other dog and 3 cat as well. Remember, if you want to be treated like more than just a billing opportunity. Go to Houston Animal Hospital and stay away from Dr. Hoffstedder at Alief Animal Hospital.
