My family has been going here for at least a decade and my Sister, myself and 3 nieces are loyal to Family Hair Braiding & Weaving! They’re a family tradition ??‼️ You won’t be disappointed! I rock a Mohawk when I see braids, and Ms. Gertrude even has Ms. Jessie there who will line you up with care ?

They are good at installing, but not at maintenance! I now have to pay a Loctician more money than I want to restore my locs! I have huge gaps among other thing! Also, they don’t do the four-point rotation they just close the gap which ultimately leads inconsistencies and lumps! They have no knowledge on maintenance or restoration!

The person who braided my hair was not the one I was in contact with ,which was the owner. However, she did not do my hair which is understandable as there was a long time client she was working on. However, the one who did my hair not only did not braid my hair as requested which was thicker shorter braids with no middle part. The owner then tried to charge me for longer which I did not request. This was obviously not correct and we sorted it out but it makes me wonder how many people had been persuaded to pay more because the braider did not follow any agreed upon requests. Lastly, my real hair had broken off as time went on.

This is the most clean and efficient hair braiding salon that I have ever gone to!!! I went in on Wednesday to set up my appointment. My hair stylist that I was paired with was Zara. I showed her the crochet style that I wanted. We set up an appointment for Friday afternoon, even though I could have gotten in same day. My appointment day came and Zara was communicative via text when she thought she might have a delay, but it ended up being that she didn’t. I went to my Friday appointment and sat in the chair right at my appointment time and I was out in an hour and 15 minutes!!!!! Zara did my cornrows and then she and another lady whipped my crochet hair in at lightning speed!! Let me note that I am super tender headed and nothing hurt while she was braiding or is hurting next day. I’m not itching in my scalp either. I’m allergic to coconut oil and this shop doesn’t use it, thank goodness for me!! Zara is wonderful!!! This shop is awesome!!! I will definitely be back!Service: Braids

I completely love the work by all of the ladies that braid hair. However during my recent visit, I was told that I can come earlier for my appointment. Although I arrived early, I still ended up waiting 30 minutes for them to start my hair. My only suggestion would be to please begin doing the customers hair at the agreed time and not have them wait. Other than that, they do excellent work. I would definitely recommend.Service: Braids

Very talented people. I love the style and stuff. I live far away, so I wish I could get a response on a couple questions I had asked about basic prices etc.

On Monday I booked an appointment for my daughters for Saturday at 9am. We live over an hour and a half away. We get to the salon and get rudely asked why we were there instead of being greeted. I told them we have an appointment. I seen someone in every chair and didn’t mind if we had to wait. We always do when we come here. So nothing new. I’m a patient person. But they acted like they didn’t even know we had an appointment. Then proceeded to asks if we can come back at 2PM. Like what! I explained we live far and they tried to call someone to come in I guess to help. While waiting, the lady in the front starts saying that she don’t care if we come back or not. I then asked what is the update and she said can we reschedule . I said no. We will not be coming back. There wasn’t even an apology or anything . Just bad attitudes for their mix up. It’s a shame to. We spend good money on our daughters hair and am now going to another salon. If you book, make sure you get a confirmation but I doubt they would even care about that. Oh and what makes it worse is that we missed our other daughters game to make this so called appointment.

Ms. Gertrude is great. She’s accommodating and will schedule me on Sundays because I come from out of town. I love my locks so much! She has breathed life into these locks!!! I’m so happy with the outcome! If you’re looking for locks that are versatile and easy, this is the place to come!

Beware this will be somewhat long because I want to be detailed but please read it!!I have microlocks that I started myself using a four point rotation and I just recently moved to Texas from up north so I needed a retightening. Previously I had a lovely sisterlock consultant who took great care of my microlocks. However, with me moving from another state I had a lot of other priorities to get done and my hair got put on the back burner. So once I moved here it had been about 2.5 months since I had my hair done and I also dyed my hair which caused a nice amount of slippage.Anyways, I found family hair braiding salon on Instagram and they had a number in there bio. So I called the number and talked with a lady named Gertrude and she was very nice she told me to send her a text message with a picture of my hair.Fast forward to the day of my appointment 31 Mar 2021 at 0900. I was under the impression that Gertrude was doing my hair. But once I arrived I was notified her assistant Zion would be doing my hair and she assured me that she just become a certified sisterlock consultant. But now I’m under the impression that she is not a certified sisterlock consultant. Once she finished my hair I looked in the mirror and everything looked okay. But once I got home and I looked closer at my hair, running my fingers through it. It looked crazy!!!I had KNOTS & LOOPS in my locks. Because she could not have used the proper interlock method with my locks. I believe she just kept putting my lock through the same one point instead of doing a three or four point rotation. Which cause my root to have a “Y” like shape and that is not the proper way to interlock someone’s microlocks or sisterlocks. Which she should know if she is actually certified. It also looked as through she accidentally intertwined multiple locks in the back together while retightening my hair and just left it like that. (I will attach the pictures)Not to mention, Zion and Gertrude basically kept accusing me of lying about the time frame of my last retightening. Their exact words “this is not 2 months of new growth, this has to be 6-7 months of new growth.” Which is impossible because the date of our appointment was 31 March 2021 and I just finished installing my microlocks close to the end October 2020. So anyway I notified them multiple times that’s it’s been about 2-2.5 months since I got my hair done because I just moved here. Plus I dyed my hair recently and that caused many of my locks to slip.I notified Gertrude the very same day via text message. I sent her pictures of my hair and I also asked her to call me once she finished with her current client so I could let her know that I was not satisfied and wanted my hair fixed by her and not the assistant Zion. She let me know that she could fix it the following day, so initially I agreed but later that day changed my mind. Because there was nothing she could possibly do to fix my microlocks besides cutting them off & starting from scratch.Basically I left my hair alone the only thing I did was cut loose the locks that were intertwined together in the back. I left my locks alone because I figured maybe they would mature and the loops would close. And later I would get someone else to repair my hair to get rid of the knots. But no that did not happen! My hair didn’t even get a chance to mature before my locks fell out. As of today, with TWO more of my locks just falling out. I have a little over 10 locks that I have lost. I’m extremely disappointed with the negligence and poor quality of work that was displayed.ESPECIALLY BEING THAT I PAID $350 for them to retighten my hair. Since I had a nice amount of new growth & my hair slipped from me dying it. I knew it would be time consuming and laboring so I didn’t mind the price tag. But my problem is the quality of work and the long term results of my hair.
