This is by far the most important review I've written on Yelp, because I truly hope it helps you. We don't talk about mental health and therapy, because it's taboo. It's even harder to find Yelp reviews, because ethically licensed professional counselors can't have testimonials, reviews, or any type of reward program. So, it does get hard to find one, which is why I'm writing one to add to the very few yelp reviews in Houston and understandably so. What I like about this particular counseling site is that they have evening hours and they worked with my schedule. I was hard pressed to find one with such varied hours...however, that doesn't mean they weren't qualified, just that their lack of evening hours didn't help me. They are a faith based counseling organization, meaning that if you want they can discuss God, prayers, and things of that nature. If that type of thing is not for you in the same building office their is another secular counselor, who is also licensed, though I have never gone to her. (But I felt that was good information for you to have.) I ended up going around May, because things became too stressful for me. I wasn't doing a lot of the things I enjoyed-Yelp included, and I needed someone to help me wade through this negative time for me. My particular counselor helped me as the past two years have been hard. The strategies provided, her listening skills, and general disposition and outlook helped me find a peaceful place. (Her name is Lauren and she's an LMFT.) Gratia Plena has several locations with psychologists, LMFTs, and LPCs. I think what was best for me was finding someone that was licensed, affordable, and did a good job. They helped me through a difficult time and I hope that maybe you'll look them up and get the help you need too.
