“Teo Chew Temple holds a special place in my heart, particularly during the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. Each year, millions of people gather at this sacred space for a vibrant and festive experience. The anticipation for the first ascent to the temple ferry creates an electric atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable celebration.
The highlight of the festivities includes the captivating lion dance celebration and the display of various deities. The temple becomes a hub of cultural richness, enveloping visitors in the spirit of the Chinese New Year. It's not just a celebration; it's a profound experience that allows for moments of peace, prayer, and reflection.
Teo Chew Temple exudes comfort and solace, making it a comforting place for those seeking spiritual connection. Amidst the crowd, the temple provides a sanctuary to find inner peace and offer prayers. Witnessing the diverse array of deity displays adds a unique dimension to the spiritual journey, creating a sense of reverence and awe.
For me, visiting Teo Chew Temple is more than a religious practice; it's a reminder of the importance of respect for higher powers and the pursuit of goodness. The act of prayer and reflection in this serene setting encourages introspection and a reevaluation of life's meaning.
In essence, Teo Chew Temple is a remarkable place to pray, find comfort, and contemplate the deeper aspects of life. It stands as a beacon of tradition, spirituality, and community, making each visit a meaningful and enriching experience.”

“I've had an incredibly positive experience at the Chung Tai Zen Center of Houston. They offer free meditation classes at different levels in both Chinese and English, making it accessible for everyone. The Shi Fus are exceptionally compassionate, wise, and very patient when answering questions, providing invaluable guidance throughout the meditation practice. I am deeply grateful for their help and highly recommend this Zen center to anyone seeking mindfulness and inner peace.”
“Tucked amidst the vibrant neighborhoods of Little Saigon, Chinatown, and Alief in Houston, Texas, the Chua Linh Son SW Temple stands as a beacon of tranquility, a testament to the enduring beauty of serene simplicity. This sanctuary may not share the widespread recognition of its more illustrious counterparts, but therein lies its charm: an authentic Vietnamese Buddhist temple, full of humble grace and inviting peace. From my very first encounter on Chinese New Year's day, I was captivated by the comforting rhythm of the monks' chanting, the earnestness etched on the faces of the devotees, and the encompassing atmosphere of reverence. As a newcomer, I joined approximately twenty people, locals, and visitors, seated on cushioned wood floors, drawn into this circle of unity and mindfulness. Meditating amidst them, I experienced an overwhelming sense of serenity, a respite from the outside world's chaos. The temple's exterior matches the inner tranquility with its beautifully crafted small garden, which houses a variety of statues and a grand raised altar. These carefully placed structures add a tangible touch to the spiritual experience, while the stillness of the garden invites moments of quiet contemplation. The Head Monk, a pillar of kindness and wisdom, is nothing short of a treasure. His thoroughness and approachability radiate warmth, encouraging visitors to dive into the meditative practices and prayers. With him and a dedicated nun maintaining this sacred place, there is always a sincere welcome waiting for every guest. This holds true even when the temple is busier during ceremonies or religious holidays, ensuring that every person experiences the temple's gentle embrace. Food here is another avenue of spiritual communion - simple, vegetarian meals that nourish the body and soul alike. Add to that their affordable post-funeral services, and it becomes evident that Chua Linh Son SW Temple is more than a place of worship; it's a community of care and support. Nestled in a corner of the temple grounds, a quaint little gift shop offers souvenirs that embody the temple's calm energy. These mementos serve as gentle reminders of the peace one can find within these sacred walls. Although it doesn't often receive significant donations for maintenance or lavish renovation, the temple's resilience shines through, a testament to the devotion of the limited staff and volunteers who pour their hearts into preserving this spiritual haven. In conclusion, Chua Linh Son SW Temple is an undiscovered gem, a sanctuary of peace in the vibrant southwest area of Houston. I encourage anyone seeking a moment of serenity, or perhaps a deeper spiritual connection, to visit this beautiful temple. Every donation, regardless of size, helps support the temple's continued operation, allowing more people to experience its serene magic. So, come and find your peace here. Let's show this temple the love it so readily gives to each visitor.”
“Update - It's been a couple of years and time for update. I've been training here for 4 years now. Training under the guidance of Shifu is awesome. His experience and constant strive for excellence enhances the training provided. This form of training not only strengthen your body, but also incorporate speed and agility that enriches the mind and body. Chi brings into unison the heart, mind and body leading to Flow. It is very rewarding when practice consistently. I cannot imagine my life without it now.Original post - I've been training there for about 2 years now. Looking back, the initial months were tough. With no background in martial arts, and being in my 50s. However as my body adapt to the routine, I felt physically stronger, especially my legs. My knee pain eventually went away. I gain much flexibility, feel more relax, balanced and learn to breath better. The essence of this practice stress stretching ligaments, opening joints, and circulation.. it makes sense now that I can feel it in my body. It can be hard work but the benefits that comes with it is worth it. It is indeed a practice for all ages. Good trainers and Shifu's skill and awareness provides the perfect guidance.”

6969 Westbranch Dr, Houston“This place is peaceful, quiet, serene, and ideal for meditation and contemplation. It is a traditional Oriental style sightseeing place for tourists. The English Dharma classes on Sunday mornings serve newcomers as well as veteran scholars and meditation practitioners. They also have a nature-theme branch retreat center in Hempstead, Texas. Staff at Jade Emerald Buddha temple are polite and friendly and welcome visitors. You can find out more on their website.”
“This was my first time visiting a Buddhist Temple in Texas. I had a very calm and serene experience. The location was quite beautiful as well. Upon entering, you will see statues and offerings that were given to them. When you go inside, you can light some incense and offer them. Donations are encouraged. When I went inside the church, the sermon was given in their native language so I didn't understand but every now and then, they will give instructions on English. I stayed for an hour and half. I left feeling refreshed and light.”

2300 Willowick Rd, Houston“We actually visited River Oaks Baptist School for a ladies 7/8th grade middle school soccer game between Second Baptist School and River Oaks Baptist School; we did not visit the church. The combi soccer/football field was super nice. It looked brand new and I was impressed with the field. There was plenty of parking around the perimeter of the field on the North and West sides and there was plenty of spectator seating for both home and away fans. That said, the spectator seating, while covered, was aluminum benches and did not seem to match with the capital spend of the field itself. The field was first class but the spectator seating was simple “aluminum” benches. Also, traffic in the area is almost always horrific. To get into or out of the area can take a lot of time so plan ahead for tons of traffic and slowdowns. But what else do you expect in the landlocked River Oaks, Greenway, Galleria, near Memorial area of Houston.”
“The only church that will teach you the truth and nothing else the people who leave bad comments about this church is mad because nothing but the truth is being taught here”
“What I love of NJC is that I found the truth and He set me free! Love the word of God that is preached and lived by His faithful people! My Pastors Jose and Ela Sanchez's faith is worthy of imitating! The Youth Pastors Ariel & Bella Sanchez are also of great testimony and inspiration to everyone!”
“The Lakewood Church family are loving, and caring people of God. I started visiting the church online in 2021 and my life is changing into the wonderful person that God created me to be. I am forever grateful for my new family . I prayed that God continues to bless the Osteen family and all the members of the Lakewood Church. In Jesus' name.”
“BAPS Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Houston is a place of incredible peace and beauty. The temple's architecture is stunning, with intricate carvings and a serene atmosphere that instantly makes you feel calm and connected. The volunteers are welcoming, and the temple is always well-maintained. The spiritual environment here is uplifting, whether you're attending a service or just visiting for quiet reflection. It's truly a gem in Houston and a wonderful place for spiritual growth and community engagement. Highly recommend a visit!”
