Great courses with good practice facilities and courses are always in good shapeAlways work being done to keep the course looking goodThe tradition course is as good a challenge you will find and is a shot makers course and is always in great conditionThe cypress course has narrow Fairways and tricky greens and maintained to a high standardDrains very well after heavy rainCertainly one of the top locations around if you appreciate good golf courses and fantastic practice facilitiesCarts are always clean and ready to goStaff are always pleasant and nothing is too much trouble for them

Staff is very friendly. Course was in great shape and drained well after a pretty good rain. Greens are growing in some, but pretty good. Generoys dairways, so the course was very fair. If you hit an errant shot, you will be penalized. Even though the fairways are generous, one needs to hit the correct side to have a better shot at the green. For either course, it's a good price point. The only thing the course would need is a clubhouse and update their cart fleet (some). It was my first time playing there and I will be back.

Course is nice but pace of play is HORRIBLE. I had to wait 25 minutes past tee time to play. Marshal does not enforce pace at all.

Well if you like trailer park golf this is your course ! Double wide , no toilet paper in the ladies room , full of slow golf if that’s your thing … not even a porta potty on the course so ladies bring some napkins and plan to squat in the woods. Actual course is good but NO AMENITIES so be aware!I’m sure all the old guys are very pleased that ladies are not welcome here… and that’s the exact feeling in which I left.

The Tradition course is starting to be in really good shape. They have actually started rolling the greens. The cypress is fair and usually is in good shape around April. The staff is great also. Them cart girls keep my group hydrated.

Probably the worst experience I have ever had at a public golf course. Place was unbelievably packed and there was no parking at all. The range ball machine was completely out of balls. They also did not have ANY CARTS AVAILABLE. We were told by pro shop to just wait outside until a cart became available. After waiting for almost an HOUR with 5 other groups of players, we finally found a random cart in the parking lot.So now we are almost an hour late to our tee time and had to explain our situation to the starter, who was WELL AWARE that our situation was a common occurrence and it was no big deal...On the first fairway, the marshall comes up to our group and lets us know that it is extremely backed up at the third hole and that there is multiple groups waiting. When we finally made it to the third hole, there was 4 GROUPS WAITING..On the 5th green, the marshall comes BACK UP TO US to let us know that the 8th hole is backed up the same way the 3rd hole was.. And of course, when we get to the 8th hole, there was 4 GROUPS WAITING..Ive played a lot of public courses, and seen some pretty bad pace of play, but this was the LONGEST ROUND OF GOLF I HAVE EVER PLAYED, BY A LONGSHOT... ALMOST 6 HOURS!I will never be playing this course ever again. The fact they are charging $95 to play on the weekends is insanity.

Play was slow with 2-3 groups backed up on some holes (5.5 hours) The Tradition course is one of the more expensive courses in Houston at $95. No rest rooms on the course and no clubhouse for refreshments at the turn just a portapotty. But conditions were good, course has nice layout. 18 is a pretty hole. Greens were relatively slow but in excellent condition. Cart girl visited 4 times during the round and it was a beautiful day. Definitely not a walking course. Only the par 3’s were cart path only today.

Greens were in fair condition. Restrooms require a code to unlock. Good. Not knowing that and not being given a code. Bad. Pro shop and men’s locker room were clean and tidy.

INTRO TO GOLF: Pt. I and Pt. II AT CYPRESSWOOD GOLF COURSEAround the end of September 2023 my buddies got me golfing (age 30) and I found out golf is hard. Scoring 8 on Par 3 or 10 on Par 4 was the highlight of my first rounds. I started seeing advertisements on my phone by Groupon for local golf instructional programs. I saw Cypresswood had a 5 week ‘Intro to Golf’ program and signed up.Week by week, we learned Putting, Chipping, Pitching, the full swing with your iron, and the full swing with your Driver (+ how to tee up).Within each of those topics, we learned what your Arms/Hands/Shoulders/Legs/Hips/Head should be doing, what the golf club should be doing, proper grip, Ball Positioning, Body posture, practice drills, club positioning, and proper swing execution. You’ll spend plenty of time with the instructors. The instructors are actual pro golfers. You aren't learning tips and tricks from someone that occasionally shoots a nice score, you are learning a well planned practicum from pro golfers that any day of the week could decimate the golf course, rain, wind, or sunshine. Despite how talented they are, they are all very patient with us students. As far as teaching, they are a well balanced group of instructors that cover a wide variety of student learning styles, regardless of the students skill level. You might gravitate towards one of the instructors based on your learning style, but there's alot of things to learn from each and every instructor. The weekend after I finished the 5 week program, I played a round with friends and birdied a Par 4 (Driver / Approach shot / Chipped in) Quite different from shooting a 9 on that same hole a month prior. This is not from reading golf books or watching YouTube golf videos. This is 100% from the Intro to Golf program at Cypresswood.PART TWO - 5 WEEK Intro to Golf pt. 2This is a more intense version of part one. It is the same format (weekly group clinic) but adds in 4 holes of on-course play with the topic just learned, as well as private instruction. We covered Lag-Putting, a second style of chipping, sand shots, more details on the iron + driver swing, how clubface and swing path dictate the direction/shape of the shot, etc. All of which follow the same format as Pt. I (drills, mechanics, practicum, etc.)That being said, I chose to stick to one private instructor for my private lessons in Pt. II. I wanted to correct as much technical deficiencies possible and wanted to keep focused with an instructor that could become familiar with my swing and bad habits. You might be different and enjoy learning from all of the instructors, just see what you like.I just finished my last lesson of Part Two Intro to Golf at Cypresswood, and this time I didn’t even have to get to the end of the program to hit another birdie on the golf course. Last weekend, I went and hit a birdie on a dog-leg right Par 4. The day before, I played golf w/ someone who has been golfing 10 years with fitted clubs, countless rounds, and hasn’t hit a single birdie. This dude was trying to just learn DIY and on YouTube. Do yourself a favor….whatever skill level you are at, sign up for Intro to Golf at Cypresswood. Just do it. You'll learn somethingMy 9 hole score before the program at an 'easy' course: 88-102My most recent 9 hole score at the Tradition course at Cypresswood: 67^ that is worth the money‘You get out what you put in’, so I have zero complaints, only that I wish the 5 week program would keep going. I tried to focus and apply myself as hard as I could, asked as many questions as I could, practiced as much as I could, and did my best to do exactly as the instructors said to do. I really enjoyed it and now want to become better than scratch at golf. Thanks Cypresswood, Tirrel, Gideon, and Dennis

Beautiful course, surrounded by woods, no cars or homes to look at and to keep focused on Golf.
