“My experiences over the years at Schwab have ranged from mediocre to excellent, with the vast majority trending towards excellent. As my needs have evolved, the services provided have evolved as well. But, recently, three separate experiences have relly stood out.
1 - A few years back, I was reassigned to a different financial consultant as the one with whom I was working retired. The second consultant was very nice but it seemed that my relatively small amount of invested funds meant I was not terribly important. When I answered a questionnaire indicating this, I was called the next day and was reassigned to a third consultant who has been absolutely excellent. They not only listened, they acted in my best interests.
2 - Two years ago my mother passed away and i was a co-executor of her estate. She had all her assets at Vanguard. Working with Vanguard was hugely tedious and frustrating, nothing remotely like working with Schwab. This applies to the Customer Service team over the phone and the website. Absolutely night and day, Schwab was superior in every way.
3 - For the first time, I had an RMD to contend with...never dealt with this and had no idea it was even an issue. My consultant reached out and advised me of what I needed to do...proactively. That was good. However, i made a mistake online when doing the distribution, which compelled another call from my consultant helping me rectify the issue. Finally, when i had a minor problem rectifying the issue, I called the office but was subsequently transferred to the centralized Customer Service team. They were knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. All in all, everything is as it should be, which would not have happened without the team at Schwab.
I am a very happy customer, and will be for the foreseeable future.”
