The wood they delivered on site to frame a home was the worst I have ever seen by far. It was obvious it had been sitting outside unprotected for years, the top boards were bleached grey from the sun, all the wood was soaking wet to the core, even the middle boards in the bundle were soaked to the core, they were all dirty brown looking, slimey and had plant roots growing in them. New saw blades would struggle they were so wet. They weighed 5 times dry weight and warped, twisted and bowed up while drying. They sent this wood out to build a new home, the homeowner doesn't know any better so they found the right guy to unload it on. This wood was not fit to build a barn with much less a new home. When confronted about it they tried to blame the Canadians. I have carpenter witnesses, pictures and emails from them to back all this up. Before their windows arrived we called to ask about the rough-in, they confirmed that the 36 in windows were 36 inches and needed a 36 1/2 in rough-in, when the windows arrived they are 35 1/2 so all the openings had to be adjusted. When the doors came the trim was nailed to the jamb with 4 to 5 large nails, had to be very careful not to break the trim getting it off and beside every nail hole was nail gun tracks dented into the wood, this is a new home, supposed to be new looking trim. From now on if I pull up on a job and there is Builders First Source material there my price just doubled, if I choose to even mess with it.
