My family loves this place! There is so much to look at and learn. My daughter loves "everything single thing" here. I love that I can see the same fossils that I dig up in Animal Crossing New Horizons. My favorite being the Coprolites and then everything else. My husband loves the live creatures the most. There is literally something there for everyone. The staff are very knowledgeable and kind.

A wonderful variety of fossils with very in-depth and easy to understand information blurbs about them! The interior is beautiful with the wooden walls, and the layout with Permian fauna -> dinosaurs -> modern taxa is super interesting. Worth the 3 hour drive for us!!

They burned us bad. They told us by phone they'd be open, but when we drove up there all the way from Arlington (almost a 3 hour drive), the sign on their door said they were closed. Any place with a glimmer of intelligence and courtesy would have told us that on their answering message. Whiteside, we were prepared to make a generous donation to you. But after finding out how you treat people, we cannot fund you.

Small museum, but growing. Really cool exhibits on fossils which are native to the area. Kids' painting station was neat. Wildlife exhibits and live reptiles and bugs were cool too. Nice gift shop with some cool souvenirs. Gem of a museum in this small West Texas town. Worth a visit.

Larger than I expected, and with excellent quality exhibits. They have lots of local finds, with some video and photos of the recoveries. There are live and taxidermied exhibits of native fauna and some other things from around the world for scale and comparison. No museum of natural history is complete without at least a few dinosaur bones, and their fossil collection is the bulk of the exhibit. The gift shop is spot on, with some wild republic stuffed dinosaurs/animals I haven't see before.Highly recommended! I especially enjoyed the line of large planispiral shells lining the outside of the building (ammonites).

I've spoken about my kiddos here before, and I'm hard-pressed to find a kid out there that doesn't like dinosaurs. Well my youngest, she's three, is obsessed. She likes dinosaur books, dinosaur movies, dinosaur sheets dinosaur pull-ups... And now she likes actual - REAL dinosaurs after visiting the Whiteside Museum of Natural History! Displayed front and center is an amazing representation of the ancient beasts found just a few miles away, alongside the bones excavated and displayed. The other kids found the gallery of mounts from around the world fascinating as well as the live specimens of lizards and snakes. A new exhibit is being created that they mentioned should be ready by the fall. We're excited to visit again and see their progress. The price of entry is amazing given the experience of such a well curated museum. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see real dinosaur bones and other amazing wonders of our world.

Wondering should I drive out to this little museum? Is it worth the drive? Will my kids enjoy it? Will I enjoy it and will it be worth the admission?YES! Yes, it is! Especially if you like well put together natural science exhibits, cool dinosaurs, animals, learning and incredibly awesome people! (Which you're reading this because you wanted a review for a NATURAL SCIENCE MUSEUM or atleast something to do.) I was looking at what to do for my mini-stay in Vernon, TX, with my kids ages 5-15. I came across several thing but my kids and I love science. I saw the fair admission price and decided we would do the hour drive to try it out. I am so thankful we did, I was honestly and happily surprised! This place has real dino bones, great created non-cheesey examples of what the dinosaur were thought to look like (great for a 5 year old), plus some were found locally by the local people running the museum. The directors, assistant directors- etc, are people that love what they do and want others to learn and have passion about it too! Is it as large as the Houston musuem of science? No but it has 5 times the heart and character! And honestly, I liked this better! Another plus? It was more kid friendly!Want an example? The have a working lab where you can see the paleontologists working, it tells you about what they do, how they do things and it even has things for you to do! They even have live animals in enclosures, plus they have the most complete Dimetrodon skeleton found together! Want more? Go see, you'll be glad you did! I'm betting you will be greeted into the same warm, friendly, fun, science loving environment we were. The museum is a total jewel, I highly recommend!Thank you to the owners, directors, assistant directors for sharing your passions! And thank you to McKenzie for an awesone unforgettable visit!

What a gem! Nestled in Seymour TX, our family had a fun and educational adventure at this Museum. The kids loved the tiger shark teeth they were given and watching Ms. Holly meticulously uncover fossils from a plate of rock in the paleontology lab. She's a wonderful inspiration to the little ladies out there who have an interest in the science. The whole staff was courteous, kind, and knew their stuff. Special thanks to Ms. Gaga at the front desk. We had an amazing time!
