We had our first visit Dr. Huffman yesterday, and he is absolutely amazing, as is the rest of his team, especially Irene!From calling me back same-day to discuss imaging/lameness/injections questions I had(before we’d even been to the clinic yet), recommending a lameness exam PRIOR to doing imaging(which can be costly so I appreciate him not jumping straight to that), taking his time and doing a MUCH more thorough exam than our previous vet who did the PPE, he showed us all around our horses mouth and teeth(he’s very mouth shy so we haven’t been able to see in there), he took out a skeletal diagram to show us exactly where the injections go and how it helps to lubricate and move the joint. I feel like he took extra time and care after telling him everything we’ve been through with our horse since purchasing him 8 months ago. He was patient with all of our questions, very down to earth, and even though he had his next patient waiting, he didn’t make us feel rushed at all. They offer a wellness program that I’ve not seen offered anywhere else, and it’s a valuable program. I’m thankful he was recommended to us, and glad to have him as our vet now!

Excellent care and communication through colic surgery! Thank you for the excellent care of my horse!! You guys were amazing...vets, vet techs and office personel...so much appreciated as my horse means the world to me!

I have an old horse, and have had to call Retama out several times on an emergency, this has included weekends and evenings. On those calls I would have given them five stars, and that's why today I'm not giving a one-star but yesterday my old horse was down he had a heat stroke and I called a few minutes after their normal hours, the vet on call, the emergency vet refused to come out. I was shocked at the very least. Thankfully with the help of a few friends we were able to get the horse up get him in the shaded area and get him soaked down . Since I have always been happyWith the care they provided my old guy in the past I'm hoping this is a one-time isolated incident.

I observed the horses for about a half hour or so. I thought they looked calm, comfortable and very serene. Two new foals remained close to their Moms but practiced kicking up their heels which was fun to see.

They were very aware of time and worked efficiently to find answers for my cat. Normally, I go to a certain clinic for my discount card but after coming here due to an emergency, I've realized I trust Retama Equine Hospital over the other.

Absolutely disgusted. Tried several times to call because we had a horse colicking and no one answered or returned our calls. We lost our horse. Would never recommend them- if you need a vet and they are only answering during business hours, then maybe the vet should be a banker

We tried calling for a colicky horse- no one answered, no one called back.We where ready to haul him in, but with no one answering or calling back.... I didnt know that I had to let my horse know to only colick during business hours. We lost him. I dont recommend retama at all

Retama Equine Hospital very attentive to both the equine and the human aspect of there service. They explain what is happening as they go and let you know in advance what their plan if action is as well as keeping you up to date on the estimated cost. Dr. Gross is our got to for anything to do with our horses/mules.

The first visit for my horse vaccination and float was good but never received a copy of his vaccine report or results for his blood work and fecal result. Just a phone call saying everything was negative I was relieved and just thought that they would mail me the results and vaccine certificate but never received anything.My horse got injured and had to have a far call where the Dr. Frost came out and all she did was clean his wound and have him a antibiotic intravenously and dressed it. Was charged a lot for that visit. Some changes happened in my family and was not able to pay off the balance for his injury but needed a copy of his vaccination and they refused to get me a copy because I had a balance. Not a balance for his first visit that was paid in full the same day he was seen.I begged them that I desperately needed his records . I called on a Friday needed the information and called every day during the week until on Thursday when I called in a panic because I needed the record. The lady argued with me on the phone and said that I could not get a copy of his original visit. That visit had nothing to do with the second visit but she did not want to email it to me.I had to beg and in tears explaining my situation she put me on hold and came back on the line and said she'll just send me the copy of the invoice. Just the invoice. No results.Very rude, no compassion, no empathy,heartless, only interested in the dollars.I already paid for that service. Why couldn't get a copy of the results?Horrible I will never use them ever again. And will not recommend them ever.

Dr. Grose and the staff at Retama Equine Hospital have consistently provided the absolute best care for the rescue horses that come through our doors. Pricing is always reasonable and fair. Compassion for our horses is remarkable and the compassion passes right on through to me, the founder of Happened by Chance Horses. Dr. Grose cares 100% about our horses. She is very kind no matter the situation and I will say we throw some tough ones at her. I can't thank her and the team there at Retama Equine Hospital enough. I am glad they are a true partner of the rescue. I never doubt that our horses will receive the best in care. I would and do highly recommend them.
