Coming from someone not from this area: This store is in an old building BUT neat as a pin. Floors were clean and shiny. The products were fronted and stocked beautifully.
Give this store a try.

I am constantly stopping at the pack and ship in the same parking lot, and after years needed to run into Arlan’s for 1 item. The smell is TERRIBLE! It’s a shame because the employees are so kind, but i had to grab my 1 item and run out, then go a bit further down to HEB. It’s a terrible almost moldy or wet smell and it’s so bad you can almost taste it.

This particular Arlans is pretty well maintained. Always have a lot of products and the shelves are very clean and zoned the 3 times we have visited so far. Have been to 4 other Arlans locations while living in the Houston metro area and this is by far one of the best of the brand. Staff is great and willing to help with any questions or support.

I stopped by Arlan's in Santa Fe to get a cake for my son's birthday. While browsing, the lady in the deli told me, "We're closed," with an attitude, despite the store itself being open. I would think grabbing a small cake would be possible, but her tone and demeanor made it clear she didn’t want to help. I simply told her to have a great day and went to leave, but she followed me to say she could get the cake after all. Why the sudden change after being rude and seeing my frustration? This isn't the first odd experience I’ve had at Arlan's. It's always been a strange store with few customers, and now I know why. I’ll stick to their competition, where I’m treated with respect. I wouldn’t recommend this store.

Been a while since I've been there. And wow what a positive change. Very neat, orderly and friendly. Yes, some items are slightly more expensive, though the lack of the other grocery stores crowds and chaos, makes Arlans a stop to consider. I really enjoyed the ol' school design which brought back some wonderful memories shopping with my mom. The vegetables & fruit looked amazing and fresh. All products on the shelves were stocked, faced & orderly. The bakery looked clean and fresh. Great job Arlans, keep up the good work!

This store smells so bad that I have to try and hold my breath as long as I can to run in and get something! I do not go here unless I absolutely have to!
