Amazing collections of archives of notable Texans. Stevie Ray Vaughan, William Broyles and Mike Judge are on display today but keep coming back to see who is the next feature in these beautiful spacious galleries on top of the Texas State University library

One of Whitliff’s many collections displays items from the Lonesome Dove movie shoot. If you like that movie then you will enjoy checking out what the collection has to offer. I’m very glad we stopped by ?? ?

Let me start by saying,, I am definitely not into art/it's not my "thing". However, went here with my son and I was impressed! I especially liked the Asleep at the Wheel display but there were some other interesting pieces of art as well. The collection overall was just well done. So, if you are in the area/on campus I would recommend checking it out.

I was finally able to explore the Wittliff Collections during a college tour of Texas State University. What an awesome experience...I would highly recommend spending a couple of hours exploring. I LOVED the Lonesome Dove and music collections.

This exhibit of all memorabilia Lonesome Dove is very thorough. This is a must see if your a fan of the miniseries! In addition to the photos, sketches and props from the movie there are items of interest from the state of Texas and of the old southwest history. You'll even see an additional exhibit on music that includes Willie Nelson. This is a wonderful experience and the best part is that it's all free! Parking is time consuming and with patience you will find it. It is a bit of a walk from parking to the exhibit so wear good comfortable shoes. The only con is that the letter from Gus to Laurie was not on display. Am I the only one wanting to know what Gus wrote to her? After all we got to hear Clara's letter.Below are 2 coffee table books I purchased during my visit about Lonesome Dove. They are both very informative and the photography is magnificent!

Good, free entertainment for those days where there's nothing else to do. Good for projects that require visual aids or are based on art.
