Herberts is definitely my favorite restaurant for Tex-Mex food. They've got the best enchiladas and chicken fried steak. Their chicken enchilada verdes are the best. And the food always comes out very hot. This place is always super busy and it's because the food is so good. They are known for their enchilada gravy and have been voted just about the best of everything on the menu. Always very fast service and super friendly servers. If you want to grab a bite to eat and your in a hurry, this is the place to come because the food comes out so quick and hot. I love Herbert's and would recommend to family and friends. A true staple in San Marcos.

This review is actually for Herberts Tacos next door. So, I was just stopping through town and wanted a quick bite. This place is a GREAT local restaurant. Prices are great, people are great, food was great. I'm not ordinarily a huge fan of enchiladas, but theirs are really good. Try the daily lunch special, bet you will like it. Also, the food comes very hot, temperature wise, which I love. Thanks guys for the great Workday lunch stop!

Excellent service, good food. Disappointed when we arrived at 2:10 PM and we were told the lunch special ended at 2:00 PM.

No complaints from anyone in our group about the food - everyone cleaned their plates. My tacos al pastor were delicious. Service was friendly and rapid. The only reason I didn't give it five circles is the margaritas were pretty weak.

I normally stay away from enchiladas because very few I've eaten are very good, but on advice of a friend, I opted for Herbert's Special, which had two Cheese Enchiladas. They were the best I've ever eaten! Anywhere! I consider myself to be kind of a Tex-Mex aficionado, so this really surprised me. Really great homemade flour tortillas too. When I heard about their breakfasts, I wanted to re-visit Herbert's the next morning to try their Migas. Too bad I had to work.

Herbert's Taco Hut is an institution in San Marcos, and has been in business for decades. My visit was my first in many years, and the ambience, service and food were still exceptional! My cheese enchiladas and chalupa were tasty beyond measure!
